How big is too big? For a bouquet of course.

NatHam, on June 20, 2017 at 12:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 46

I made my bouquets from dried flowers and sola flowers and if I hear one more comment about how big they look I may punch someone. Would anyone care to post a picture of you holding your bouquet and maybe a bridesmaids? I can hold mine and look in a mirror but it's hard to imagine if it's "too big". I think it looks great and let's be honest . . . I won't be holding it all day.

This is a forum and you're going to get opinions. If enough people tell you that your bouquet is too big, perhaps you might take the hint. I wouldn't recommend that you punch anyone. The bouquet is to frame the bride. It is a leftover( from what I understand) from The Middle Ages when folks did not bathe often. I believe it helped ward off The Black Plague also. A huge one looks like you are off to battle a dragon. Any reputable florist would tell you this. People want to see you, not the bouquet. How long you hold it is not the issue. Please get something to compliment your body size and gown.

@Nancy. No one on here has said anything. Just people that have seen them. Like FH, a couple coworkers, and then a friend. It's not that big. . . I hope lol

I don't have pictures of my holding them. I will get one. Mine is on the left

Honestly, this is one instance where "you do you" is good advice. Your bouquet doesn't impact anybody but you -- if you love it, that is literally the only thing that matters.

I'm team big bouquet. I love big flowers and so did my florist. If that's the look you like then go for it. You aren't carrying your bouquet during the entire day and I did pictures with it and without it for variety. People still saw me, they saw my dress, and they saw my flowers.

I'm all about letting your face take over so a smaller bouquet is what I'm doing.

ETA: I copied and pasted the wrong comment into the wrong thread lol

My inspo for the florist was definitely on the larger side. I prefer large, looser bridal bouquets, instead of the tight knit ball kind.

Honestly, this is a case where it's your wedding, get the size of bouquet you want. The size doesn't affect the guests experience or make you a good or bad host.

My previous picture didn't post. Mine is on the left. I don't have many pictures of them done.

OP, from that angle I would not consider that to be a large bouquet at all!

It does look big but I think it's really whatever you want and like.

The bigger the better, IMO. I actually think small bouquets can look like sad times. I think mine was quite huge.

Curious cat over here. Can I ask why you're using dried flowers?

Thanks everyone. This is making me feel better. I felt like so many people were putting down the size so I got discouraged

I like the large flowy look. I'm not about a tight ball of flowers. At the same time I didn't spend $1500 on a dress to cover it up by carrying flowers the size of a bush.

The bigger the better, my bouquet was almost as wide as me and I loved it. No pics yet sorry.

If that's it then I don't think it's too big.

This is a picture of my great aunt on her wedding day. She was shy of 5ft and pulled off that monster of a bouquet like a champ.
