How big of a dance floor rug do we need?

Emma, on March 14, 2018 at 12:37 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 7
So we're having a boho kind of themed wedding at a mountain cabin and we're considering doing a big antique rug as our dancefloor. We're not really big dancing people so will probably mostly need the area for the first dance and father/daughter, that kind of thing. Our guest list is at 50 total, so it's a small wedding anyway.
Does anyone know what size dance floor rug I should be looking for?
Also, would putting it out on grass make it flat enough or would it be more a tripping hazard?
Thanks ladies!

My quick internet search estimated a guest list of 60 and about 20 dancers at a time would mean that you should get a 10'x10' dance space. So, with your list of 50, a 10'x10' would be plenty of room.

I think the height of the grass would determine if it's a tripping hazard, but it would definitely be safer and more stable if you placed the rug on a hard surface.

A rug isn't really safe for dancing. I would look into having a hard dance floor, otherwise you're gonna have some sprained ankles...

I don't think a rug is a great idea for any type of dancing. You really run the risk of falls. If you're into the boho theme maybe consider a vinyl rub on for a wooden dance floor that can be peeled off at the end of the night.

I honestly think a rug would be a hazard even if it were on a flat surface. You might want to consider renting a movable wood dance floor instead.

A rug is a bad idea for dancing, it can bunch up and people will trip.

If any of your guests are like me, someone’s breaking an ankle that night.

I agree with the other PPs. A rug is very much a safety hazard as it easily bunches, plus it would be difficult to dance on.
