How can i include my fiance's siblings?

Rachel, on October 31, 2020 at 4:09 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 9

My fiance has two teenage sisters who I am close to in a big sister kind of way. They are very eager to be included in the wedding somehow. I have a MOH and one other bridesmaid already and my fiance only has a best man. For a number of reasons it doesn't quite make sense to include them in the bridal party, however, I still want them to have a special part. I am thinking of having them walk down the aisle together in dresses similar to my bridesmaids but just take a seat in the front row and also asking if they would like to make speeches at the rehearsal dinner or the reception. I think giving them some sort of title would also mean a lot. I'm honestly not quite sure and very open to any suggestions on what we could do. This also raises the question of how to include my own teenage brothers, so any ideas on that would also be appreciated.

What about making them junior bridesmaids and your brothers could be junior groomsmen? Or you could do junior groomswomen and bridesmen

I agree with Gen. I would have them as junior bridesmaids and groomsmen.

I thought about that. However, they are all 15-18 and cringe at the word 'junior.' LOL. I like the groomswomen and bridesmen idea though! That might be different enough...

Groomswomen and bridesmen are just like bridesmaids and groomsmen. The only difference is that a bridesman for example is male bridesmaid. My brother was a bridesman.

I am having my niece “man” the guest book & she will be distributing the programs & “send off” favors. My daughters boyfriend will be an usher.

Gens idea is awesome! Depending on what the budget allows though-parents now have to purchase/rent 2 additional dresses/suits. Run it by them & go from there!

Maybe the girls could do a reading at the ceremony (they could be called up after they sit in the first row like you mentioned), and the boys could be ushers for the guests 😊

You can definitely include teenage siblings in your procession. I'd steer away from having them make speeches during your reception only because I feel like too many speeches/toasts at a wedding just feels painful and long (IMO), so if you already have parents, MOH, and Best Man doing them that's more than enough. I personally don't think titles matter much at all but if it will mean a lot to them its something you can consider. If you are going to include your fiances' teenage sisters then I feel you need to include your own teenage brothers in a similar fashion.
