It's definitely not hard to count calories. Anyone can do it. If you run around all day, carry a small notepad in your purse and write down what you eat. Everything. Every single m&m, pretzel, cheese stick, everything. When you get home you can take 10 mins to look things up online if you don't have the packages.

Try to visualize your plate into 3 portions. 1 for protein, 1 for veggies and the last one should be smaller for carbs.

If you need help visualizing portion sizes here is a really useful tool.

Portion control is very important. Most of the stuff we eat, especially dining out is enough for 2-3 people.

Counting calories isn't really hard, it's just time consuming while you're learning.

A weight watchers meeting might be helpful for you to get started. I think you can try one for free. Carry a notepad like Puffins said, or use the notepad function on your cell phone. Since you've never done this before, I would highly recommend buying a kitchen scale. If you're used to eating out, it's difficult to eyeball portion sizes at first:

Anything I could do to count calories BEFORE I put them in my mouth was helpful to me. I measured/counted out snacks, veggies, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc into my own little "100 calorie packs" using ziplocs or plastic containers. It's time consuming up front, but can save you a headache later on when you're trying to remember how full the cottage cheese container was when you picked it up, or how many pretzels you put in your mouth. Ok gurl I dont want any backlash lol....Im taking these pill that i buy from a doctor and they are $140 for a 4 week supply and they are called Phentermine, is Fen-Phen without the dangers from the "Fen" medication. You can talk to you doctor and they can prescribe them and your insurance will pay for the perscription but the dosage is lower so you may only lose 2 lbs a week....I've been taking the for 2 weeks and eat no sugars or bread and with no exercise and i have lost 12 lbs

I'm trying to lose 31 lbs. Since after we moved out of state, I gained weight, I went from 168lbs (I'm 5'7" btw) to 196, I started eating grapefruits (it's a natural fat burning fruit and has tons of fiber, vitamin C and is pretty filling) and less portions. It's not easy but I'm trying. The hardest part is with the carbs and sweets since I have a gigantic sweet tooth. I'm not counting calories, just portions so I don't go overboard and I try not to eat at night. As for exercise....I have the Kinect for the Xbox. It's fun and gives a good workout.

Oh, I wanted to add that it's easier to lose weight really fast when you are overweight to begin with. There were weeks when I was losing 7-10 pounds because I was very over weight. Once you start getting closer to the weight you should be at, that's when it slows down.

If you can really try to cut down on wheat, dairy and sugar that will really make a difference. Veggies are obviously the best choice without tons of butter, oil, etc. I agree with everyone's suggestions to calorie count as well. You can figure out how many calories you can have each day to lose a certain amount of weight by a specific date.

Circuit training(cardio and weights) and interval training on gym eqipment are very effective for fat loss. Weight training is also a good fat burner b/c the more muscle you have the more calories your body will burn( even at rest.) Once you start changing you eating habits and working out you'll see a big difference in the 1st month or so and that should be motivating to get you through until the end. I would focus on the shape of your body and what you're actually trying to achieve (look good in your dress and on the honeymoon I assume), instead of how many pounds you want to lose.
