How close are you to your bridesmaids?

I'm just wondering if everyone is super close to all of their girls, or if they have a few friends that aren't really all that close to them. I'm just wondering if everyone is super close to all of their girls, or if they have a few friends that aren't really all that close to them. I have 4 girls- my MOH (bestie), my youngest sister, and 2 other friends. One of the two I spend a lot of time with and have in depth conversations, and the other is one of my FH's bestfriend's girlfriend. She and I are decent friends, but not good enough friends to hang out with unless out so's are there. It's not like we wouldn't, it's just that we don't. FH doesn't like her, but understands that I don't have many friends here and isn't going to tell me no to her being in the wedding party. She also doesn't like FH, but at the same time says that he's her spirit animal ( he's a lot of people's spirit animals, he's feisty!). I'm also considering asking FH's sister and his brother's baby momma/gf to be bridesmaids as well, but I'm not really close to them either, but they're family so that's a little bit of a different story.

So Basically, I'm just wondering does everyone who has a larger group have at least one or two friends who are in your party that you're not super close to? or are you close with all of your ladies?

MOH: sister - we’re decently close. Best friend - very close. Cousin - not very close because we’ve never lived in the same state, but always really connect every time we see each other (she cried when I asked her). Close friend - we don’t talk a lot, but when we hang out we’re really close. Childhood best friend - similar to “close friend.” And I’m gonna ask my FH best man’s wife - almost the same situation you’re in. We don’t ever hang out without the guys and don’t talk super often, but we get along really really well and always enjoy each other when we’re around each other. I think you should ask whoever you want! Even if you’re not super close - just know there may be a slight risk with that involved.

My bridal party consists of my childhood bff and my sil as BM and my "bestie" as my MOH. I'm close with all of them, they're family. In fact, I either have or will be in each of their weddings.

We don't see each other often, but we aren't clingy or needy(for lack of a better word) to the point where sometimes we go a few months without seeing each other. I wouldn't say we aren't close though.

I have my friend from elementary school, my cousin, my close friend who lives far away and FH sister. The only one I’m not close to is FH sister but I felt like I had to include her.

Well my best friend is my MOH and I have another friend I’ve been getting closer and closer to that’s my Matron of honor (she’s honestly amazing the more and more I get to know her the more I love her) then it’s my sisters and brothers (they are my bridesmen I am very close to all siblings and couldn’t imagine them not on my side) then there is my FH niece (who I’m not super close to. We are working on it, but she’s making some bad decisions recently and I’m honestly not even sure she’ll be at my wedding. And I mainly wanted her to make us closer. She isn’t that much younger than me and having an aunt that’s only a few years older can be weird we are getting close but I’d like ya to be closer this is a way I’m reaching out.) Then there is my last bridesmaid.. I’m honestly not super fond of her but I decided she was going to Hawaii (where our wedding is) and I’ve decided I should do this to try and reach out. She’s super nice I’m just not a fan of her.. I’m honestly trying but she’s already being a little difficult. I am happy that I am doing this though to try and be friends and make a better friendship. We will see how things go. I’m pretty happy with my line up my maid of honor and my matron of honor are amazing and I love them and they are my rock. My siblings don’t care much except they are getting a new “brother” so it’s going pretty well even though some aren’t involved it’s hopefully what will make some of us closer! 😊

I was super close to all of my
Bms... my best friend since I was 5 ( got married at 28), my cousin, my best friend from
highschool, and my husbands 2 sisters .. I would have never thought of putting anyone in my wedding who I wasn’t close enough with that I’d have to be with my Husband to hang out w them.. I always say if my husband didn’t have 2 sisters I would have had 3 bridesmaids only

You shouldn’t put someone in your wedding who you’re “ not fond of” the people standing beside you should be your nearest and dearest .. there are other ways to try to work on your relationship with someone

Well I wasn’t fond. I want to do this to get closer. Some of the people I thought were nearest and dearest aren’t coming to the wedding and some don’t even care I’m getting married. So I would rather her be there. This is the way I want to work in the relationship and everyone’s different in the way the do things. Thanks though😊

My best friend will be my MOH, of course. The biggest issue I have is that I don’t have any super close friends anymore. FH and I have been together since I was 13. Once high school hit, most of my friends wanted to party and not many people wanted to be “tied down” to one person. I’ve never liked to party/drink and I only wanted my FH, so we just had different interests and disagreed a lot. Sucks for them!

Anyway, my cousin will be one.
My FSIL will be one. This is mostly out of obligation because she’s my FH’s only sibling. I say were close and we are for the most part, but our relationship is mostly one-sided. It feels like I care more than she does and I know when/if she gets married, I won’t be one of hers (she has a lot of friends).
My aunt will be one. I was a bridesmaid in her wedding, but I would’ve asked her regardless because I absolutely adore her!
I have two other friends from work that I might ask. I’m not crazy close to them like I am with my BFF, but close enough that I don’t think it’s weird if I ask them.

I also had some people who i thought were nearest and dearest not care, my ex best friend actually went out of her way to exclude me from her wedding and then when i got a little hurt by it (i mean, i was literally on her couch a month prior and she didnt say anything about it) while being happy for her, she told me she had no intention of going to my wedding and dropped out as moh. Sometimes it's the people you're not super close to that end up being there for you when you need them.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. One the people was my cousin. We are literally 2 months apart (age wise) and we did everything together. I told her I was engaged and she acted happy. When it came to the wedding though she had told me she decided to go on cruises and trips with friends instead of my wedding. It hurt so much. After she asked for me to wait till she got home to do my bachelorette party cause she did want to go to that.
She knew all the dates of everything and then planned to do things after she said yes to being my bridesmaids. Honestly it’s been really hard cause I’ve been sad she choose others over me. But it’s okay I’ve moved on and the people I have chosen are already making me so happy. They are there for me and ready for any and all wedding adventures (and non wedding adventures)!

I have 6 in total my older sister (maid of honor) my little sister, my cousin who I have been close with since childhood, my roommate I lived with for a few years, a another childhood friend that I try to visit whenever I go home we never went to the same school but regardless of that we always found ways to hang out and have a good time, and my last one is my FH cousin (he doesn’t have any siblings so he was super close to his cousin) I’m not very close to her she live half way accords the world so I don’t have a chance to interact with her but she is really sweet and she was there when we started dating so I wanted her to be part of the special day.

The only one I am not super close to is my fh sister. I asked her because I wanted to get closer to her though and so far it is working. We talk way more than we did before. The rest of my friends I have known for years but do not see them on a regular basis. I know if I needed them they would be there for me no hesitation.

I only asked my three very best friends. I considered my SIL and a cousin, but I realized I’d be happier and more relaxed with just the smaller group of people I’m extremely close to. It worked out extremely well for me.

I have 8 bridesmaids and I’m lucky enough to have a wonderful relationship with each one of them. 2 of them I went to high school with in Milwaukee (and pretty much the only 2 people I visit when I go back to Milwaukee), and my two MOHs, along with my other 4 bridesmaids played college basketball together for 3 years. One of the girls I played with in college I’m not “as close to” but we are still best friends.
