How did it happen?

I was totally surprised! My fiancé and his mom came to visit me and help me move into a new house. My FMIL wanted to visit this new bakery that is about 20 minutes from my new house. My fiancé wanted to "explore" the town without her so we went to the top of this mountain overlooking the town and he proposed! We went back to the bakery after to pick up his mom and everyone started screamed and congratulating us when we got back which was hilarious because they were all strangers. Just like you, I didn't even wear makeup and my clothes were so casual!

I knew it was coming just didn't know when, he's not the best secret keeper. Though, my parents and best friend are pretty good secret keepers since they were the only ones who knew his plans.

We went to my parents house Christmas day to have dinner with them, we didn't exchange gifts with them since we were celebrating Christmas with them on New Years Day due to my brothers schedule but him and I had already exchanged gifts in the morning (I LOVE Christmas and still act like a little kid on Christmas morning, I woke him up at 8 AM to exchange presents lol) After dinner with my parents he told me he had one more present for me, he handed me an extremely heavy gift bag. When I opened it, it was a bottle of limoncello that my parents had brought me back from Ital 2 years ago, that I kept saying I was saving for a special occasion. When I looked back up at him he was down on one knee, I sobbed like a baby.

After I said yes, we did a Zoom Call with all my cousins who I'm extremely close with, and him, my mom and my dad did shots of the limoncello, which I sat out on because I was extremely hungover from the night before lol. I don't even think I said yes when I saw him on one knee, I think all I said was "I can't take a shot"

Supposedly my mom told him to do it Christmas Eve, cause we were doing a Zoom Christmas eve with my family, but I got a little too deep in the Wine and was super emotional from not being at our normal Christmas Eve gatherings that he told her no lol

We chose my ring together but I never knew when he would ask. We were at a family reunion & part of the reunion was at the Grand Canyon. Towards the end of the day, his 21 yr old son & I were tired of being around family & I told him I’d take the hit & start complaining that I had a headache. My fiancé said no- we just have to take pictures at the train station (he’s a huge train geek). Fine! Let’s go! He told his family that he was going to ask & even asked my father for permission. We walked up to the train & when I turned around, he was getting on one knee!

My husband is such a horrible secret keeper that I figured it out and even helped make the dinner reservations for. But he thought I didn’t have a clue, lol.
My dream NYE had been at Magic Kingdom for a while and I convinced him to let that be my Christmas gift. So all day we rode my favorite rides and enjoyed the day. Then we ate dinner inside Cinderella castle (his bucket list item) and he proposed Inside the castle. He was so nervous during dinner because he couldn’t figure out where to do it. He “went to the bathroom” and our sweet server helped him make a plan. So I didn’t get the typical Disney proposal with the castle in the background, but that’s ok. He came up with the plan all alone and picked my ring by himself (just a few inspo pics sent by me ya know “just in case”)

He had surprised me and booked a private Disney photographer. He surprised me with it as we got to the park, then at the end of the photo shoot he proposed, and even had face masks made that said “I said yes” and “I finally asked”. I knew it was coming at some point, but I had no idea he’d do it that day!

We decided together! We are very open with each other and equal partners so I wouldn't have it any other way.

I knew he was going to propose eventually, but I didn't know exactly when! But the day he did it I had a really strong feeling it was going to happen! We took a cruise to the Bahamas in August 2019 with his family, my mom, and my cousin (who is my MOH). On the first night we all got dressed up and went to a really nice restaurant for dinner and then everyone said they wanted to take pictures outside and that's when I got the feeling it would happen. I could also tell he was extremely nervous while we were waiting outside for everyone to meet up. Haha. We did a big group picture and then my FH and I took pictures with just us and that's when he did it! It was perfect and I wouldn't have had it any other way!

We just decided together. We have been together for 6 years, we've been living together for about 5.75 of those years, lol, and we have TWO kiddos together (4.5 and 2.5 yrs). We had recently attended my best friend's wedding together. We never thought we'd have a conventional wedding; we always thought we'd just go to the courthouse, or or get married at the free chapel and each lunch at a restaurant. But we fell in love with the idea of "our wedding" after attending my best friend's. We decided to look at venues. We went to file for a common-law/informal marriage certificate for insurance purposes since my FH recently got a new job. We booked the venue. We started looking at rings together. I narrowed it down to a couple for him, he ultimately picked. We actually "staged" a proposal during our engagement shoot. But later that night, in the kitchen, in our sweatpants and pajamas, he got down on one knee, told me all the reasons he wanted to marry me and asked me to be his wife. He made me turn around, he said if he saw my face he would cry (:

A real magical experience you had hahah. You already were at magic kingdom and got to have dinner at Cinderellas castle but now you will forever have a special memory there. I bet you felt like all your dreams came true that day. How amazing. Good luck in your marriage!

These Disney proposals are making me alive right now...UGH I love Disney so much lol.

I also love my engagement story though! I had NO idea it was coming. It was the day after thanksgiving, and we always go pick out our Christmas tree from a local farm. It's probably my favorite day of the entire year, to be honest, because it jumpstarts my favorite time of the year. So I was actually upset that morning because our thanksgiving was not good, I had a fight with my grandmother, so I was sad, but determined to have a good day. We headed out to the tree farm with the dog in the matching outfits I made us wear. We walked around looking and I found the tree. I wanted to take a picture with the dog so we squatted to her level to take the photo. When I got up, he stayed down and pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to take his last name. It was really sweet and perfect. He cut down the tree while I called my best friend excitedly and gushed to her about it. Just perfect for us!

I LOVE THIS QUESTION!

I knew it was coming, but I wasn't sure exactly when. But I didn't realize he'd been planning this proposal for over a year!

He moved into my apartment where my dog/child and I had been living (Dog's name is Gus, and mine is Julie). Until that point, it had been just me and my dog living together, and he was my everything. Starting about 6 months after moving in with each other, unbeknownst to me, my husband started teaching Gus my name and teaching him the trick "Go see Julie!" wherein my dog learned to go find me anywhere in the apartment. Sometimes he would send Gus into the bathroom (which was hilarious and annoying) so I just assumed it was a silly trick.

Fast forward a year and we're in our (new) house. I come home from Starbucks, and there my husband and Gus are crouched in the kitchen right across from the entrance. My heart stops. Sean (husband) says to Gus "Go see Julie!" and my dog starts walking toward me and then turns around and looks at Sean as if to say "Bro, are you sure about this?". Sean repeats "Go see Julie" and he trots over to me with the ring box tied in a bow around his neck. I was shaking and crying, Sean was crying, dog was wagging, it was my favorite moment, and so so perfect for us.

It was my 30th birthday. He arranged for us to be in Orlando (my fav vacation spot) with my childhood friends for the weekend (my birthday is 3 days before Independence Day). We dressed up for a dinner in (my request) and after my friends went around the table telling me how I'd grown the most in our friend group - he got on one knee! Of course I said yes & smiled at my best friend/MOH who I had told that I knew he was proposing (he left the receipt to get it cleaned in my car. Its the same ring his dad proposed to his mother with). 230 Days & Counting!
