How did you all decide which makeup look to go with?

I believe it’s personal opinion! I knew my DH doesn’t like to much eye makeup on me (he likes more natural) and I don’t think it looks best on me either, so I went with a soft neutral colors, but told my MUA I wanted something that would make my blue eyes really stand out! So we went with browns/coppers. I have had friends who did almost complete glitter on their eyes to make it sparkle to match their dress! I knew I wanted falsies and a natural lip color (because I lick my lips so bad I knew If I had actual color it wouldn’t last) picture just to show what we did!

I am going with make up that looks best with my dress.

View Quoted Comment I think a lot of it depends on the style of your dress. For example, if you have a BoHo dress, make up would probably be more natural to reflect the style of the dress. Or if the dress is super sparkly and glam, you would probably want glam make up to live up to the dress.

I haven't gone through this yet but I think this is where the makeup trial really comes into play! If possible, you could have the trial done and then try the dress on again to really get the full effect. I personally have a super hard time visualizing looks without actually doing it lol. So you might start natural at your trial and then realize, nope I want a little more pizzazz or vice versa!

Honestly, I looked on Instagram for wedding MUA in my area. I kept being drawn to one specific artist whose work is more glam. I used my engagement photos as the opportunity to see his work on me and let him do what he felt he should do creatively. It turned out incredibly and I’m glad I let him do what he does best. If you’re not sure which makeup direction to go with, I’d recommend looking through Instagram to see what look you’re drawn to most and then find an artist who does that look.

I agree with this. I have always believed a more natural classy look is best for weddings but also I took my hubby into account. Funny is I was already planning a natural look with a pop of color but right before our wedding day I mentioned bringing make up on our honeymoon and said to tell my make up artist he likes a natural look lol. It was a look I wanted but I always wanted him to love how I look too.

I went with a more natural look, but didn't decide on my look until my makeup trial. That's what the trial was for!

Same to you. You look beautiful. I loved my HMUA. She listened to me and even walked me through each step during my trial and day of and asked me if I was okay with something before she did it.

It's personal choice. What look do *you* prefer? Other opinions don't matter since they are not wearing the makeup. There is no right or wrong outside of your individual style and choice.

I never wear makeup and wore it for the first time for my engagement pics, four months ago. The MUA was had very high reviews and she did great work... but I did not like it. The pics came out fine, but when I looked in the mirror, I absolutely hated the way I looked. As a result, I'm going make-up free for my wedding.
