How did you announce your engagement on facebook?

I knew of one friend who would probably make a comment on my fb so she was the last person I called that day. We called all our family and other friends first. I was right, we had literally gotten of the phone with FH's sister in Sweden who had returned our call when she had posted a comment. After that we each posted about it and yes everyone is right be prepared, your fb will blow up lol.

The totally cliche, ring picture with a quick synopsis of the proposal. It was wonderful to open up fb the next day to a ton of congratulations!

Wow didn't expect so many responses so quickly Some really sweet and cute ideas!

I changed my relationship status and posted a picture of my ring.

We called our parents. Then I posted a pic of the ring with "every thug needs a lady" (from a fave song). Then we changed our "status."

The point was made. Keeping up with the notification is exhausting!!

FH proposed when we were on vacation in Italy. When we got back (and we had called all the important people), we changed our status to "engaged" and I posted "Left for Italy with my boyfriend, returned with my fiance! Had the most amazing trip"

I posted a ring picture a couple weeks later, but I hate when people just comment "Congrats... Where's the ring pic?!??!!?"

I haven't done so yet, but I think I'll take a picture of my ring circling the 27th, on the calendar page for July. Maybe some text like "May the journey begin...!" And that's it. I really dislike "I GOT MARRIED!!!"esque posts.

I don't have a relationship status so I won't be putting one until after I'm married.

Bam! I'm engaged

Like most of the posters, I changed my status to "Engaged" and updated my profile picture to the picture of my ring I took.

I waited about a week and then just changed my status to engaged one night. I have too many family members i wasn't planning to invite so I didn't want to make a huge announcement and then have them invite themselves.

FI proposed on a Sunday evening. We told all our family and close friends and I posted a pic on FB the next night and changed my relationship status! Everyone was so kind to like my status and comment with congratulations and well wishes. I truly am blessed!

I uploaded this photo to remain kind of discreet I went to Starbucks and asked for a double cup with my chai tea latte (love this drink!)...went home and wrote "The Future Mrs. _____" on the cup where your name is typically written, then shot a few photos on my front porch wearing new ring. Simple as that... I wanted to make it fun and everyone loved the idea! YAY!

We told our parents, siblings and grandparents first. I also told one of my cousins, who was my MOH, and of course we told close friends. I waited a week or so until we got everyone who we needed to tell in person and then changed statuses and posted the ring on FB.

Future husband proposed Easter morning. When we went to his parents house that afternoon we colored Easter eggs. I wrote on mine I said YES we took a picture with our champagne glasses my ring and the Easter egg! I got a ton of notifications.

We both changed our status and I put a picture of my ring up there. And the only people wee called were our parents. Siblings and everyone else had to find out on facebook or by word of mouth.

Well, on our way down to Disney (we drove) my phone completely crapped out on me and died! He asked and when I wanted to call my friends and family, I didn't have their numbers bc my phone was dead to the world!!! So we waited to post it until I had a working phone a week and a Half later.

We never did. We were on vacation when we got engaged, so we told my parents and his mom and brother right away, and then told the rest of the important people in person or on the phone when we got back.

Neither of us are really facebook people though, we never had our "relationship status" there and still don't. A few months later when we set the date, I posted something about that and got lots of responses from people who had no idea.
