How Did You Ask Your Bridal Party?

Jillian, on October 14, 2013 at 10:56 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 51

Went to Michael's yesterday to choose a way to ask my Bridal Party to be in the wedding.

Ended up standing in the aisle staring at countless random things. I'm very crafty, I think I just had a blank brain at the moment. How did you ladies ask?

I called or texted. One girl I asked on Facebook. I wanted to wait and do something creative and special but I was so excited after I got engaged that I asked them immediately in whatever way I could get in touch. I was on vacation so none of them were close.

I sent a card to my sister. She was my MOH when I married my ex, and I didn't want her to feel like she HAD to do it again or that I was putting her on the spot by asking in person. I wanted her to have time to think about it, and decide what she wanted to do. She was beyond excited though so it was silly to worry about.

My daughters are my junior bridesmaids and there was no asking. They automatically assumed they would be in it LOL That was actually kind of funny.

I think FH just asked his guys in person. Nothing special, but he did get them awesome groomsmen gifts.

I asked each of them in person. I bought a small box at Michael's and put a bridesmaid shirt, individual bottle if champagne, a ring pop, a magnet with a picture of the two of us, and a personal note. On the top of the box I wrote their name with scrapbook letters and tied the box with tulle in our wedding color.

ETA: FH asked each groomsman by giving them a small bottle of their favorite alcohol and I made Help Wanted signs to hang around them.

I put rings pops in a box with tissue paper our wedding colors and wrote on the lid, its my turn to pop the question, will you be my bridesmaid? I mailed it to my out of town girls and took the others to dinner to ask them.

    I just asked them.

Though, I am about to put together wedding books for them and send them out because I need them to get on the ball with what they need to do...

That's on my list of "things to do"...

I invited all the girls to get together at a party we were throwing. Then I gathered them all in a room and handed them all cards. They opened them and each one said "Will you be my bridesmaid?" Inside I wrote a very heartfelt, personal note. Once I got the "Yes" from everyone, I brought them all out a personalized wooden hanger with their name, my wedding date, and their role (bridesmaid/matron of honor) carved on it. On each hanger was a floral robe for them to wear while getting ready on the wedding day!

I got little labels for wine bottles that said "Will you be my Bridesmaid?" or maid of honor or whatever. I bought them from Etsy, but you can make them too. So then the girls got wine along with it!

I bought these cards off greetingcarduniverse.com and sent them to all my girls. I included a picture of FH and I on the night we got engaged and a personalized message to all of them.

Nothing special... But I'm sure they would have enjoyed something nice. I've never gotten anything and I've been a BM 5 times. I already knew who I wanted and most already knew and didn't even have to be asked.

I asked them at our engagement party that was a year before our wedding. I hand painted wine glasses with dresses on them and used sticker letter to spell "bridesmaid" around the bottom and then I put a sticker letter with their initials. I bought then lacey tank tops that said "bridesmaid" on them and folded them into the wine glasses. I also wrote them each a card about why I wanted them to be in our BP and why they were so special to me!

I bought glass bottles from Michael's and parchment paper and pink ribbon and made messages in a bottle, and when they got the message out it asked them, then glittery stickers on them with their initials. They seemed to really like them! Smiley smile

I found a shop on etsy which sold cute and inexpensive "Will you be my Bridesmaid/Maid of Honor" cards. They were blank inside so I wrote each girl a heartfelt note and mailed it along with a pretty pearl drop necklace. They are all 5+ hours away so I couldn't do it in person. All of them loved it and most wrote back a really sweet acceptance note.

I asked my 2 friends in person over my belated birthday dinner ( All of us are nurses and have family and work 3 different schedules, almost need an act of congress to get us 3 together, LOL). Asked my cousin after a music research study we did together to be my MOH, and she was floored. Look on her face is priceless. Texting or calling if not able to face to face would be acceptable too

I bought a wedding dress cookie cutter and made sugar cookies, iced them really pretty, wrapped them nice and added a little note that said: "will you be my bridesmaid?" I also got little white boxes to put them in! All from michaels Smiley smile

    Who doesn't like cookies?

I bought wishbone charm necklaces and will type out a card on scrapbook paper that says, " I WISH you would be my bridesmaid!" and put it in a little gift box. Smiley smile
