How Did You Ask Your Bridal Party?

Jillian, on October 14, 2013 at 10:56 AM

Went to Michael's yesterday to choose a way to ask my Bridal Party to be in the wedding. Ended up standing in the aisle staring at countless random things. I'm very crafty, I think I just had a blank brain at the moment. How did you ladies ask?

When I texted a picture of my ring--all but two texted me back "I get to pick out my dress!" So I didn't really have to ask. The other two were my sister in laws so I asked when they called to congratulate.

I wrote each of them a letter and sent in via snail-mail. They all called to confirm and all of them said they cried at the letters and loved them. I did that because they are all OOState. I don't think there is a wrong way to ask, unless you are on a mushroom trip and won't remember asking Smiley winking

I asked mine via text message. I didn't feel like coming up with an elaborate plan.

All four of my BMs live in different states so I made them a card that said, "So and So, will you please help be tie the knot...." (open the card) "By giving me the pleasure of being my Bridesmaid?" I included a little sterling silver ring that looked like a knot on top. They all loved them.

I put the typical rhinestone "Bridesmaid" and "Maid of Honor" tanks in a small shirt box that I wrapped in white wedding wrapping paper, on the outside I used black glitter letters to write "Will you be my...?" and when they opened it there was the tank.

For my Man of Honor I have the intention of making him a more 'manly' shirt, I got one of those fake tux tees and planned to use the iron on letters to put "Man of Honor" on the upper back part of the shirt, kinda like a Jersey, but I'm still not loving that idea. I've been considering buying his favorite liquor and doing a custom label on the outside to 'formally' ask him. In the meantime I pretty much just told him he was being my Man of Honor lol!

I just asked them. I'm not a mushy person in the least so I was straightforward.

We called ours. I always get nervous about the fancy cards, etc., because they so often seem to be followed by a bride that expects the BP to do a lot, and a bridal party that thinks their only job is to show up on the day. I'd rather discuss expectations early, so that there is a clear understanding before the person accepts.

Wow some of you ladies went all out which is awesome! I just called and asked. After they said yes I sent them all a thank you card for agreeing to be in the wedding and for the efforts they will put forward over the year.

I texted them. I asked them months ago, when I knew he had the ring. When he proposed, I just texted that he did it. We're all older and I'm the last to get married, so the cutesy things wouldn't have been cute.

I had a meeting at a restaurant and then I presented them with a suitcase (cutsey small vintage looking) of different things that they will need during this year... a tiara (of course), makeup from Ulta, a tutu for Key West,... I just filled it with random fun stuff. I also had a card asking them to be my maid.

I made them hangers with their names (for their dresses) and asked them at our engagement party.

I called them and asked. I actually didn't know about this trend of cards and stuff, until I came on WW!
