How did you ask your ring bearers/flower girls?

SoonToBeASlabaugh, on February 13, 2017 at 10:32 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

We asked my FH's nephews (ages 3 and 2) to be our ring bearers last week. At first we asked their parents obviously--but after we got permission from them we decided we wanted to get the boys a cupcake each to ask. They accepted the cupcakes but didn't say anything--as they are 3 and 2 I just figured it didn't register. No big deal and honestly didn't even expect that. Just wanted to spoil them.

Well I was babysitting them last night--and as soon as I got there the oldest runs up to me and shows me his "shiny shoes" and says

"Aunt Annie! These are my new shoes. They are for your BIG wedding! I am going to your BIG wedding and I will eat cake with you and Uncle Trent and then [younger brother] will eat cake with me. But then he has to go to bed because he is a little boy but I am a BIG boy and I am going to be in your BIG wedding!"

How did you ask your ring bearers and flower girls? What did they do after? (Picture used with permission)

So sweet!! After clearing it with their parents, we sent our ring bearers/flower girl a package that included a book for kids about being a ring bearer and a Pinkalicious book about being a flower girl :-) we also ordered personalized scratch-off cards that asked if they would be our ring bearer/flower girl! What a cute pic BTW :-D

We were together at Christmas, so I just asked them, "would you like to be a ____ at my wedding?"

They said yes, smiled, and went back to playing with their Christmas gifts.

I asked their parents. They are too little to give a real answer.

When we told MOH we were getting married, she offered help and to ask her anything we wanted, so I told her we wanted her kids (her son's FH's godson and her daughter's my goddaughter) to be RB/FG so she called them and said "want to do the same you're doing for mommy and daddy, for aunt ati?" (MOH's wedding is a month before)

Awww how cute! I too asked their parents and then asked them. For my flower girl I got her a bouquet of flowers and she LOVED it! She was so excited, she said yes so many times then asked what that was lol (she's 5). Then for my ring bearer we got him a teddy bear holding a ring pop. He was very shy about it lol. Took the bear, said thank you, and didn't say yes or no! (Even though he probably didn't understand. He's 4).

I got a box of cupcakes for my nieces and wrote it on the box and asked them. They're 5 and 2, pretty sure the 5 year old only said yes for a cupcake. Lol 2 year old didn't understand. But when the dresses came in they were very excited and wanted to 'wear their pretty dresses' that day!

My nephew seems excited to be a ring bearer. He'll be six by the time of the wedding. My niece will also be a ring bearer since the venue makes us clean up the flower petals afterwards and I don't want to spend time picking them up from the floor. She's about to be 3 and will be 3 turning 4 by the time the wedding comes around. I asked her the other night and she smiled and said, 'yes,' but I think she's more excited about the 'pretty, pretty princess dress' she gets to wear. I think I might get her a little tiara to complete the look. Haha!

My nephew is 2 and FH's niece is 3, so we just asked their parents. They're too young to really know what we are asking of them. We will do something cute for them when it gets closer to the wedding day as a thank you.
