Need Help/Advice!? Got engaged this past New Year's Eve ... I had never thought about the time of year I would want to get married all I do know is I want outdoors.. my venues offer both options depending on the whether (just to get that out of the way). How did each of you decide on the Month to have your wedding? Initially I kept going back to March a March wedding for 2018. Ps. This will def be a 2018 wedding. However, lots of venues don't even open until April or May. My FH doesn't care for April. And I've not been a fan of May due to lots of graduations and vacations during that month. Also, being from Alabama we are huge football fans so Football season is not ideal... any advice on how to eliminate certain months or how you decided will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for your time !!!

We knew we wanted a Spring wedding. The date was available and they gave us off season (March) pricing for it so we took it.

We wanted a May wedding, and we had wanted the 23rd because it's an anniversary. We were originally getting married in 2015, but my FH got very ill and we had to postpone. So we went to May 27 of 2017, but then realized that was Memorial Day weekend, so we backed it up one week.

We knew we wanted destination, and August was the only month both my dad and sister would be able to attend (due to work and school) besides December. We didn't want a December destination wedding due to it being so close to Christmas. (Neither of us wanted to put it off until 2018 either) So, August it is!

FH and I both work some pretty messed up schedules, but July and August are when the "light seasons" overlap for us. We knew we wanted a Friday, so we looked at the available dates at the venue and went from there.

I tend to lean more towards summer weddings in general because people have more flexibility in their schedules, especially if they have kids. Is June or July a good time for you?

I wanted a late spring/early summer wedding. April still could be a bit chilly for me.. May gets into Mother's Day and Memorial Day.. So June ended up being perfect for us. As for the exact date- it's the only Saturday my venue had available, over a year in advance.

We knew that we wanted a fall wedding, Washington is so beautiful in the fall and it's our all time favorite season. The venue we fell in love with only had one date available for fall Smiley smile That's how we got our date

I too, knew I wanted an outdoors wedding and in the summer, because I have went to way too many fall weddings recently and just wanted to be different than all my friends. I decided against May and June because of graduations and graduation parties. From there, The first weekend of July was out because of the holiday and my fiancé is in a friends wedding the 3rd weekend in July. I wanted to space ours out a bit from there's since it's mainly the same people attending. I originally wanted August 12th because I knew it would be before people started back up with college classes and I have my cousin who is in grad school in my wedding but when that date wasn't available we settled on the following weekend, August 19th. Smiley smile

    Our favorite month is October.

We wanted 12+ months post engagement to plan.

We wanted Thursday, so we could do a 4 day weekend.

The 19th is the Thursday during peak autumn leaves.

It was available at our favorite venue.

    Boom 10/19/2017.

I knew we had to avoid football season (FH and I (and my family) are Bama fans, FMIL is a Georgia fan, and FFIL is a Virginia Tech fan, so no Saturday was safe) so that ruled out fall.

I knew I didn't want a long engagement, and we're actually having a longer one that I preferred, but my MOH is having a baby May 2017 so we had to wait for her to be able to travel. FH works every other weekend, so we had 2 weekends in June to chose between. The first weekend is a big truck event in KY that FH and all his friends go to every year, so that was out. So bam, 6/17/17.

FH and I also met on the 17th day of November, so I loved that the 17th was on a Saturday!

I wanted March, because I figured it would be less busy (not exactly wedding season) and also wanted after the start of daylight savings, so we could have the extra daylight for photos. I chose March 18th because it was the first weekend available which fit the criteria.

I wanted October or November because I'm in Az and they are my favorite months but we went with what the venue had. We saved $2000 on the venue for having it in August and the actual day was the only Saturday they had available. It's kind of a balancing act on find the venue you want to pick a day if your not set on a certain one. Good luck!

We wanted to get married in the summer since we wanted to move my house (and all the kids) in during the summer. Our lucky number seems to be 7-- we met on Jan 7 a few years ago, first kiss on a May 7, he proposed on Oct. 7th, you get the idea.

I really wanted a spring wedding, however my FH wanted winter. I was against doing a winter wedding but it was the only detail he really had an opinion on besides the food/alcohol so I caved. We decided on 12-30 because it was a holiday weekend and gave everyone an extra day to travel.

    Check out this article: https://www.theknot.com/content/wedding-dates-to-avoid

We originally had March 31 as our date because it's our dating anniversary, but this article made me realize that's Easter weekend! Since our wedding date would no longer have any significance to it, we ultimately chose a February date to save $2K on our venue.

I wanted 3/17 because it is St. Patrick's day, which is my favorite holiday and favorite day of the year, so I wanted to always have a reason to celebrate this day. I was looking far enough in advance that it wasn't a problem to get my date since it is Friday. I did switch to having a destination wedding and it is during spring break which is unfortunate because it makes things cost a little more, but that is worth it to me.

I chose between 3 major dates. The weekend between our birthdays. (we are both may babies) The day we met June 30th, 2010 or the day we became official 10/22/2010. We got engaged on 7/4/2016 and I thought the other 2 days was cutting it close because I had some really big events I was working on at the end of last year and June is a destination wedding for a good friend.

So it was perfect to be married on our 7th anniversary. It's the number of completion! :-) <3
