Need Help/Advice!? Got engaged this past New Year's Eve ... I had never thought about the time of year I would want to get married all I do know is I want outdoors.. my venues offer both options depending on the whether (just to get that out of the way). How did each of you decide on the Month to have your wedding? Initially I kept going back to March a March wedding for 2018. Ps. This will def be a 2018 wedding. However, lots of venues don't even open until April or May. My FH doesn't care for April. And I've not been a fan of May due to lots of graduations and vacations during that month. Also, being from Alabama we are huge football fans so Football season is not ideal... any advice on how to eliminate certain months or how you decided will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for your time !!!

I start medical school in August and didn't want to be planning a wedding so it had to be before then, and half my bridal party is in school still do it had to be after may, and summer is bloody hot in California, so we picked early June.

We knew we wanted fall, and I preferred not to get married in October, our family has had bad experiences with October (deaths in the family, divorces of couples in our family and friends who have gotten married in October). November is too cold for outdoors, so we settled on the last Saturday of September. It just happened to be coincidence that it was the anniversary of the day we met... Smiley smile

Our first date was March 17th (St. Patrick's day blind date!). We decided to get married around that time - the 17th was a Friday so we decided on the Saturday.

FH hates the cold and can't remember crap. I figured 5/6/17 was easy enough to remember and it's somewhat nice in Jersey that time of year.

My FH thought he was going to be in school for spring semester...so I chose the weekend following his school finals.

He ended up deciding to go a different direction and took a break from school.

I'm really glad with the weekend we picked now...though at the time I really wanted something a few months sooner (around February/March).

My FH and I are big Autumn fans, so we knew we wanted our wedding between mid September and mid November. Between friends getting married and other things going on we decided on 09/30

We actually wanted November 15th, but I'm 2018 that's actually on a thursday I think. We are getting married on my PIL anniversary. It's what my FH wants.

My sisters and parents all got married around May 19th so it's an unofficial family holiday plus we are in MD so the weather is really nice then typically.

    I am getting married 9/16/2017

I knew I wanted a fall wedding (August - October). I chose this because it is the season where we have less going on. I want to be able to enjoy our anniversaries in the future and not worry about birthdays, holidays...etc and these are the months that are less busy for us both with family stuff and work stuff.

I did NOT want hot weather which had me leaning towards September/October more.

Lastly, Our venue only had 1 Saturday in these 3 months available - which is what my date is now.

I wanted an outdoor wedding in FL. November-early March are the only dry, cooler times of year. My FBIL got engaged two weeks before us and chose October 2017. He lives on the opposite side of the country so for his family's sake we attempted to put as much time as possible between the two weddings. We also took into consideration flight prices because 90% of our guests are OOT and FL is a huge spring break destination. I looked up when the first spring breaks began and they were the first weekend in March for 2018. So we landed on the last weekend in February.

I wanted September, got engaged February. But I realized that was a really short time to plan the wedding. (7 months) I love May because it's my birthday month but I really didn't want to have my wedding in May. But I thought about how I would rather have a spring or fall wedding than a summer. I knew I wanted it at the end of May 20th or 27th. When we picked our venue the 27th was opened.

We were between Spring and Fall. Then settled on the months (May because the weather is generally nice, October because I'm a teacher so September wouldn't work). Then we went with May because it would be five months sooner. We didn't want to wait for October

We picked our date because it'll be the nine year anniversary of when we first exchanged I love yous. That being said, we were lucky it fell on a weekend in the off season.

We really wanted to get married in the summer because the weather is warm and people want to be out and about. We took the first summer date that out venue had available.

We knew the minimum amount of time we needed to save and plan a wedding. Then a bunch of days were knocked out because of Jewish Holidays. What we were left with was late summer or late fall. Decided on August 27 because it's much more pleasant to visit Seattle in the summer than the dreary fall months.

FH finishes grad school this may, and our lease is up in August. Originally we wanted an October wedding, because we both love fall, but it would have been too stressful to plan a wedding without knowing where we were gonna live (FH still job searching), so we moved it up. After graduation but before it gets hot. Memorial day weekend seemed perfect, and I didn't want to be a cliché June bride (personal preference, nothing against the people here marrying in June). The only holiday it clashes with is Ramadan, but my BM said not to worry about that.

    Good luck, OP!

My FH is a huuuuge sports fan so i had few months to pick from. I had to make sure there wasn't a super bowl, pro bowl, final four during march madness, NCAA championship game, NBA and stanley cup finals, and world series. Im sure i left some big events out but i really wanted a fall/winter wedding so October or November 2017. We got engaged on 1/26/2016 so i wanted plenty of time to plan.

Originally i wanted 10/7/17 since 10 7=17 but the church didn't have that date available. then i suggested 11/11/17 but FH's mother didn't want it that far out. so we with went with 10/21/17.
