Need Help/Advice!? Got engaged this past New Year's Eve ... I had never thought about the time of year I would want to get married all I do know is I want outdoors.. my venues offer both options depending on the whether (just to get that out of the way). How did each of you decide on the Month to have your wedding? Initially I kept going back to March a March wedding for 2018. Ps. This will def be a 2018 wedding. However, lots of venues don't even open until April or May. My FH doesn't care for April. And I've not been a fan of May due to lots of graduations and vacations during that month. Also, being from Alabama we are huge football fans so Football season is not ideal... any advice on how to eliminate certain months or how you decided will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for your time !!!

We wanted to get married around the time FH finished his clerkship in Nashville so that we wouldn't have to start our marriage long distance. 9/2/17 is also the last Saturday before the Vols' football season begins so I won't have to worry about FH checking the score during our first dance haha.

My FH asked me to be his GF March 9th 2012 , we wanted to do the same date in 2018 , but didn't want a Friday wedding . .so that's how we got ours (: which is subjected to change because we haven't put a deposit on our venue yet .

I always wanted a Christmas Wedding I live in NYC so after the last few winters we had that idea went out the window. FH birthday is in January and Anniversary that wouldn't a option. Always knew I wanted a Sunday wedding before a holiday. So that is how I got 9/3/2018. (Labor Day Weekend) Seven days before my birthday. After reading several threads I realized that you don't have an actual date until you book your venue going to second venue tour this weekend.

I originally wanted a fall wedding in October because its my favorite month and my birth month. I figured my family would be a little more overwhelmed with adding that in along with my birthday, halloween, and all the other holidays that follow so we decided on winter because I like the cold and its my favorite season. (Also my sons name is Wynter) we decided on January I wanted 1/18/18 but that was a Thursday and FH wanted a Friday night wedding so we decided on 1/19/18

I opened up a calendar and asked FH what he thought about our date. I chose the year he chose the month and day.

It was what worked best with my schedule as a teacher. We picked July, but didn't want it too close to the fourth. The first date we looked at I'll have my period, so we chose the week after, the 29th. Our first pick for a venue had a cancellation for the date so I snatched it up!

We got engaged in October 2015 and knew we wanted our engagement to be a little more than a year. Dead of winter seemed like a bad plan because we would have a lot of potential guests traveling, so when we went to book our venue, we inquired about March 25th and it was available.

I'd see if I could find one open in March because it is generally warm already in Alabama.

Or at least where I grew up.

    Also, roll tide!

I needed to avoid hurricane season so late summer and fall was out of the question. I didn't want to tie the knot close to the winter holidays. I originally wanted March 2018 because the weather is ideal. However FH and my parents wanted a bigger wedding and I caved, so we postponed until summer 2018. I wanted to avoid July like the plague because it's the beginning of hurricane season. I work at a school for 10 months of the year so I decided to wait until I finish the school year, June 23 is the night of San Juan which is soooo much fun but would cause traffic, June 30th is actually when FHs vacation renews. He already checked with his boss and can take time off before and after the wedding!

The venue we chose had 3 open dates in summer/fall - one in July, August and September. Chose September because it's really hot here in July/August but I regret it. I'm ready to get this show on the road!

Edit: Our ceremony and reception are both indoors

FH wanted to wait until after he got his degree & I LOVE Autumn. Figured 2016 would be the earliest...nothing stood out for a date right away.

But when I looked at 2017... FH have the same birthday (he's just a yr older) & our 'shared' birthday lands on a Friday for 2017 : ) Yep, 2 bdays-n-an anniversary for years to come!!!

Not what a lot of people want; but we love it & not every couple can pull that off Smiley winking

We chose our date since it's our anniversary date and this date had a lot of meaning for us to because it changed both of our lives. I emailed the two venues I loved the most and the one that had the date available we booked in Oct 2015

Originally I wanted 8/18/18 cause it was a palindrome and am a horrible stepmom and forgot 8/18 is my youngests birthday then we decided on 8/4/18 because we will have the kids at the time and it is the only month that has no anniversaries and only one birthday in our families. It also is my pop pops lucky numbers so I'm hoping some of his luck rubs off on our marriage as him and gram have been married almost 60 years.

One way to eliminate months is if you want to save money. Thus, look at off peak wedding season which is typically January, March, April, November. So March sounds great because you are most likely going to get a great deal on your venue, your date will be available, and you will give your guests something to do in March bc what else happens in March lol.

I always knew I wanted a Fall wedding bc I get hot a lot thus I like the temps of October not too cold not too hot.

FH did not care about the wedding date, so I decided to go around my school schedule. I am enrolled as a Master's Student, so our original date was for January 7, 2018--during my winter semester. However, FH and I had some unfortunate events, and we are going to move it to March 2018. I talked with my venue and they notified that once we had a set date, we can come back to let them know & they will let us know if that date is still available. We are going back this weekend to confirm. Also, if you choose March 24th, 2018 we will be date twins!

I originally wanted a fall wedding, but we found a venue we loved and it was about $60 per person cheaper in March. The only Saturday available in March was the 18th, and since our anniversary is the 29th we figured we could use it as an excuse to celebrate all March long. Smiley winking good luck planning!
