How did you give the venue guest's meal choices?

bina1015, on August 7, 2015 at 11:10 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

We are getting rsvps back...woohoo. My question is how did you include the meal choices with seating? I'm drawing a blank. Did you provide the venues separate lists? Can you please share what you did if you have pictures.

We aren't quite there yet but I was thinking I would put a certain color sticker or something for which ever entree they requested- say orange for chicken, blue for fish etc. That way the waiters can identify what to serve by that. If that makes sense?

Here are a few ways to do it, but you just give your venue a count of how many of each choice

I am going to either do stickers or just printed animal outlines like this

We did colored rhinestones and told the caterer what each color meant.

I gave the venue the total numbers ahead of time. Then at the wedding I put a dot of different colors on the escort cards for different meals (ex. silver= fish, blue = beef, green = vegetarian). It probably would have looked better if I'd done it with colored stones but I was a bit short on time at the end.

We aren't having escort cards but having the seating chart on an easel instead so I gave the venue cards with table number, names and who's having want. They have it in "my folder" and will give it to the chef and staff the day of.

I hadn't even thought of this. This is a great idea!

Wow, thanks ladies! We are only have two options so the rhinestone are a awesome idea! Sometimes I just need to visually see it.

I'm probably going to purchase this stamp set. I think it's pretty cute and I'm not computer savvy so it'll be easier for me.

We're doing choices for multiple courses - but with under 50 guests we'll be giving the wait staff a copy of the seating chart (assigned seats, neither of our families do it any other way) with the meal choices on it.

If we were only doing a choice of mains, we'd probably be going the "stamps or identifier on cards" route.

I told the venue the total number of beef, chichen, vegetarian and kid meals.

Then, I made escort cards with everyone's name and table on the front, but their meal choice on the back. As they picked up their cards there was a sign that said to keep their cards visible so that the servers would know what dinner to give them.

It worked really well to my knowledge. I didn't hear of any mistakes or mixups.

I WANTED to do little stamps. Like a tree meant prime rib, a canoe meant chicken, etc. But couldn't find anything like that so I bought jewelled stickers.
