How did you make your 50 guest or less wedding fun on a budget?

Ayannah, on April 21, 2023 at 3:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Hello, I am planning a 50 guest wedding at my home (majority family and some friends). I was thinking of having a dinner party style reception but I worry it may get boring. I was thinking to not have a DJ so I don't have to create a dance floor and instead do something else. Will it be boring without a DJ? I am open to having it at a wedding venue but the price has to be right. Any thoughts?

Fun people make a party fun. You can have every entertainment avenue under the sun but if people are not fun loving to begin with and get easily bored or offended, that is what makes the party boring. A small guest list or no dancing/dj, etc does not affect that. Some of the most fun weddings we have attended were at parks department owned community centers with restaurant drop off catering and a dj. They were under 100 people and guests had a blast all night.

Honestly that many people in a house sounds incredibly stressful/overwhelming. Not only for the hosts but also the guests unless you live in a mansion or on a piece of land with a lot of acre that people will be able to spread out. Otherwise guests are going to be crammed together which doesn't sound like fun at all. I would look for a venue that will allow you to be more spread out thus making a more enjoyable experience.

To have that size of a crowd, you'll need a fairly large space, or multiple smaller spaces, plus at least two bathrooms I not more. Other than that, if you have good food, good wait staff and good drinks, it will be a good party!
