How did you save money on hair and makeup?

The Sealpups, on July 9, 2019 at 8:51 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4

From what I've seen (not sure if it's a cultural thing or in the area), brides get their bridesmaids nails done a week before the wedding and their hair/makeup done on the day of. I would've loved to do that but I don't know if I can afford that with my budget.

Here's my break down of services needed:

1. Bride - hair and makeup

2. MOB - just makeup

3. Grandma - just makeup

4. MOH - hair & makeup

5. Bridesmaid: "

6. Bridesmaid: "

7. Bridesmaid: "

8. Bridesmaid: "

3 of my bridal party (bridesmaids) will be traveling from out of town and there won't be time to get manicures done. My sister said that was okay to skip.

I'm thinking of calling my FH's cousin to do makeup for my bridesmaids. My bridesmaids are pretty low maintenance. I can also provide the makeup too (I have so many makeup palettes that are photograph ready, including a contour kit with that can acomodate with different skin tones).

I would only need to pay for hair services for my bridesmaids and I (6 people) and makeup for me (and I'll comp my FH's cousin for her services)

Would this be acceptable? Or is it too cheap?

EDIT: I would just ask them to provide their own foundation. I'm also wanting to provide a robe/pair of earrings as a gift.

You aren’t required to pay for any of this. If it’s in your budget and you want to offer, that’s great. Is FH’s cousin a professional MUA? If not, I would let the girls know your offer, but would also inform them that she’s not a professional in case they want to go to someone else. This may not save much money in the long run since you’re going to have to buy a ton of makeup to match everyone’s complexions.

I originally wanted both hair and makeup done professionally for me and my mom but it got to expensive. So I'm just doing professional hair for me and my mom. And I will be doing mine and my moms makeup. I'm going to practice, practice and practice on makeup being im not really skilled in that part. Now for my MIL and MOH I'm hoping to have FIL's girlfriend do there hair and makeup if she agrees to.

I wanted to make sure hair was paid for for everyone in my party that needs it (me, 3 bridesmaids, 2 moms), so we're saving money by doing our own makeup. I prefer to do my own anyways, since I want a very light look, and no one else in my party cared about having their makeup professionally done anyways. As others have said, it's not mandatory to pay for any of it if you truly can't, but it is a nice gesture if you want to cover at least one or the other. I wouldn't worry about manicures at all, nobody will ever even notice those for bridesmaids!

Let them do whatever they want with their nails, and make professional HAMU optional. Then the girls can pay for all 3 if they want. Pay for just your own HAMU!
