I would love to hear some wonderful stories to brighten up the day! My fiancé proposed to me while we were on a ski trip. My fiancé proposed to me while we were on a ski trip. He pretended like we were going with our other friends to see the Grand Teton National Park. Little did I know that he researched and planned with our friends where in the park and how he was going to propose. Our friends asked for me to take pictures of them and then they asked if we wanted some too. While they were taking out picture, he proposed!

This past summer, my husband (who was my boyfriend at the time) and I had gone on a trip to Barcelona, Spain for the wedding of a close friend - he was going to be a groomsmen in the wedding, and I was going to be the point person for décor and floral. The wedding was beautiful, but then at one point during the reception, my boyfriend pulls me aside to talk. He then tells me that he had planned a surprise trip to Florence, Italy with another couple, but he wanted to have it be a surprise since I was working so hard to help put the wedding together on top of doing online classes for college. BUT he said that the trip was mainly a surprise for his best friend, since his birthday was next week and his wife was surprising him with us meeting them in Italy after we left Barcelona. I mean, I wasn't gonna complain about going on a surprise trip to Italy, but it did seem a little odd that it was just for his friend's birthday. I went along with it and didn't really ask questions.

Once we got to Florence, we headed to the Airbnb that we were going to share with our friends. When we got there, his friend acted SO surprised that we were there! Of course, he was in on what was going to happen later that day, but he sold it and I completely bought it! My boyfriend suggested that he and I go on a walk while our friends got ready to go to dinner for his birthday, and we were ready so I said why not. He took us to the historic Boboli Gardens, which is beautiful, very large garden to walk around. HOWEVER, he had no idea how big it actually was and how there are various parts that are very steep to walk on. So here we were, walking around this giant garden on one of the hottest and most humid days of their summer for about an hour and a half while our friends plus the couple who had just gotten married were trying to find the perfect spot for my boyfriend's proposal. Not going to lie, I was hangry, my feet were swollen from walking so long in the humidity and heat, and I was getting a little annoyed every time he would be looking at his phone and texting. It wasn't until he started to act all nervous and was getting emotional that I had a feeling about what was about to happen, especially because he's very confident and usually doesn't stumble over his words.

Finally, we arrived at the spot that our friends had picked out for him. It took him a while to work towards proposing, waiting for crowds to stop walking by and for people not to be sitting across the path from us. But then he starts getting even more emotional, and that's when I knew what was really going on. He takes out the ring box, and says, "I don't really know what I'm doing, but I think I'm going to get down on one knee now." So then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Our friends popped out from their hiding spots, and we took some amazing pictures in the garden that we used as our engagement pictures. Oh, and we had some amazing pasta and wine afterwards at our dinner.

We went on my golden birthday trip, February 28, I turned 28. After years of hating having a winter birthday I decided to embrace it and so I planned a trip to the northern woods in MN. We stayed at the Gunflint Lodge the lake on the lodge borders Canada. We had activities like ice fishing, dog sledding, skiing, motor fat bike rides, all things we had never done before. We have always wanted to see the northern lights and had heard they were spotted a few nights ago and so on the night of the 28th a bit before midnight we got dressed in our winter gear and headed out. We walked as far into the frozen lake as we dared, there were lone wolf sightings days before and didn't want to be easy meals. We laid our blanket on the frozen lake and lay down to count stars and hopefully get lucky and see those northern lights. After a good 10-15 minutes my back was cold and we decided to head back in. Ray asked me to find my favorite star, I looked around like a fool trying to figure out what star was who and where. Found a unknown pretty one and pointed it out, then asked him to show me his. That's when he got down on one knew told me I was his favorite star and asked me for marriage.

We had no witnesses to our proposal it was just us in the middle of a frozen lake on the border of two countries at roughly midnight, and I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful birthday/leap day. We decided to use 02/29/2020 as our date since we originally wanted to do a leap year wedding and try to make a trip of it every leap year.
