People typically add a reception card to their invites for the information.

We included the reception details in our details card that outlined pre-wedding festivities, listed our wedding website, and had accommodations to them, etc. It was also listed on our wedding website.

It sounds like you bought invites that indicate the reception will take place at the same location as the ceremony. Typically, if the reception is going to be held at a different place than the ceremony, people will include a separate card in their invitation suites; however, if the reception will be held at the same location, that's usually when people just write, "Dinner and dancing to follow" (or some variation of that).

You should pick a different template. That type of invitation is for when the reception and ceremony are at the same location.

My invite has a back and front, so I customized it that way. You can delete the dinner and dancing line and put the venue name is you have room.

Usually the invitation says the reception location too!

    Hi Lia!!

Usually, couples will write it on their invitation, saying something along the lines of "reception to follow at..." but I've also seen it on a separate card that comes within the invitation! Have you already ordered your invites?

I agree with the others, you can do a simple card that indicates when and where your reception will be held.

We included a details card that had all the reception information but that is because our reception is not at the same location as the ceremony. However, we did also include the name of the reception location and time on the invite. "dinner and dancing to follow" indicates they are the same location.

If your reception is at the same venue as the ceremony, a simple "dinner and dancing to follow" will work just fine.

If your reception is elsewhere, you can either pick a different template that will allow room for reception details, or add a reception card with the address and pertinent information there.

As the other PPs have said, there are 2 ways to do this. You could include the reception address on the bottom of the invitation if it is a separate venue or include a card with the reception address. My reception was at a different place than my ceremony so we included the reception address at the bottom of the invitation. As for the reception time, there shouldn't be a gap so it should immediately follow the ceremony by starting out with a cocktail hour.

We added “reception to follow at 6pm at XYZ restaurant” to the bottom of our invites. We also did a separate details card with additional info.

You could always put where the reception will be in the ceremony program or make a separate sheet to add with the invitation.
