How do I get my wedding website searchable on Google?

No matter what you put into Google, our website does not come up. I have the settings set "website searchable" and do not have a private profile. This is EXTREMELY frustrating as my Knot website that I started but then did not complete because I did not like the format is showing up in a Google search for guests but not our actual website. Therefore they are not getting necessary details. We obviously shared our website with guests but unfortunately, a lot just go straight to searching for it on the internet instead of typing in the URL. Is there any way to fix this? Didn't think this would be an issue and would be so difficult. Apparently I should have just stayed with The Knot.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Delete. the. knot.

It's the only way they won't find that one and they will find this one, period.

@WWKatie i know you tried to help, but did you even read the question or comments? Swing & a miss.

Sorry m - I blame the fact that it's after 4 pm Smiley smile

Dana - purchasing a domain will not make your website searchable (at least not in the near future). Unfortunately, most WeddingWire wedding website are NOT searchable via Google, which is why I suggested sharing your website URL with your guests. We are unable to dictate which user websites Google decides to index, which is why some people's will show in Google searches while others don't.

Dana if it makes you feel any better, I am having this exact same issue. My incomplete knot website pops up first, and my WW website is nowhere to be found. It sounds like after reading all of this that I will just have to use the knot instead!

Not going to lie, I switched from The Knot to Wedding Wire to take advantage of all the tools here. To discover that the very basic feature of being able to find it on the web isn't an option here... is pretty ridiculous.

You can try to submit your URL manually to Google: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/submit-url

I know some people want a private page. But most people use search to find websites. I can't remember the last time that I typed a whole website address. www.weddingwire.com/_______ is not an easy thing to type. Whereas ____ ___ Wedding it so much easier. It's crazy that a wedding website company is so clueless about how people use the internet. If i had known this, I agree- I would have used a different service.

    Dana,

Your wedding has probably already taken place, so this won't help you, but I am now running into the same issue, and I had an idea that might help others, so I am posting it here.

I am almost done with my WW website, and when I am, I am going to share it in a post on Facebook. Normally, my Facebook settings are set to only allow my friends to see my posts. This post I am going to make public, in the hopes that when people Google search our names and wedding, that Facebook post will come up, with a link to the website.

As I said, I am not quite ready and have not tried it yet, but it was my best workaround idea that I have come up with. Good luck to all others who are encountering this problem!

Has there been any update in the advice for this? I've gone through all the work to make Weddingwire my manager for all things wedding, including guest list management. We've created our website completely and when I google search other people I can quickly find their WW website but not mine. All I see is my incomplete knot page. HELP!

Unfortunately, no. I haven't at least. My Facebook idea didn't work either, so I am just hoping that everyone will use the URL from the Save-The-Dates or the link I shared on Facebook to find it.

I just dealt with the same annoying problem! I went back to my website on The Knot and only made one section visible which I titled "Our Site". I left a quick note referring guests to our WW URL... I'm hopeful that will reduce the number of people texting me asking for wedding details! The Knot does say that it takes up to 30 days for their websites to appear in search engines and that is certainly better than never. WW... you need to work on that!

My issue is in wedding wire, when guest try to type in our names to rsvp, our names aren't there with our wedding date. Any help on how to make our names searchable in wedding wire with our wedding date so guests can search our wedding to rsvp through wedding wire.

Help please. In wedding wire website, when I tested to see if my name was searchable for guests to find us to rsvp, it's not showing up. How do I make it public so our guests can search our names to rsvp in wedding wired?

Having the same problem- very frustrating! I didn't even create a the.knot website, but it comes up as the first google result. I guess Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn automatically linked our registry to the.knot. I hope WW gets this fixed soon!!!

Well - a full two years later after this forum started, I'm not seeing any evidence that Weddingwire has done anything new to resolve this issue. Who cares that it probably frustrates hundreds of brides?

Having a vanity URL redirecting to that ugly weddingwire URL that does not include bride or grooms' names is never going to allow you to get indexed by google. This is the MOST BASIC thing you can do for SEO. Welcome to the internet age; your customers rely on Google to find what we're looking for.

I'm dismayed that i've made this mistake and my wedding website is already on my save the date. Given this oversight, I will probably set up a page on the knot to point to my site on Weddingwire. Highly disappointed that more attention has not been paid to this issue.

Same problem here. The knot has much better SEO, I don't know why this is not a priority for WW?

I'm assuming this still hasn't been resolved, since my page is not searchable. I just deleted by knot website, so I'm hoping that maybe that works, as one suggested a long time ago... But I really wanted to use Wedding Wire for the RSVPs just for the table assignments, as that was suggested to me by an acquaintance.

Hi all, can someone point me in the direction of where I can find the settings feature to make sure my website is "searchable"? I can't find it and people are saying when they type our names in the wedding wire website they don't get any results.
