How do i incorporate a mariachi band?

Elizabeth, on February 25, 2020 at 10:57 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
Hi girls! So my family is getting us a mariachi band which we are totally into, I'm Mexican and my fiance is American so we want to mix both cultures. But I'm not sure how to incorporate them? I don't want to have them at cocktail hour because we aren't doing a first look so we will be taking photos and won't get to enjoy it. I thought about dinner time but my parents and fiance think it may be too loud? But if they play after dinner then it would be cutting into dancing time so any ideas or suggestions?

But I think dinner would be great aha that’s like the part where it would be a nice dinner show! I’ve seen plenty of weddings where they have a band for entertainment or during a dancing portion

Why would it be too loud at dinner? Most people will be eating and that should cut down on conversation. So it kinda seems like the perfect time to me.

I used to think like you until i went to a party. It was a small wedding and the mariachi band was actully pretty nice. Just perfect for the setting. You can always let them know and they'll know what to do.

I also like the idea of them playing during dinner! Also here is another thought, what about also having them play a short set of prelude music for the guests as they are arriving to the ceremony site? It would really set the mood for a fun upbeat wedding, and be a source of entertainment so people aren't just sitting around waiting for the ceremony to start.

    Good Luck!

We are having them play for cocktail hour and dinner! I’m hoping to be done with pictures early to get to enjoy the mariachi too!

I thought about having them for the ceremony too as I loved that idea but they charge by the hour at $800 so I'm making sure we get to enjoy them! Haha I am leaning towards having them play at dinner, maybe half way in, after the toasts? That way we can open the dance floor right after!
