Hi guys, just about to start getting my invites ready to send out. Does anyone have any tips for how to go about letting single guests know they're welcome to bring a plus one? I have a couple ideas but not sure if they're the proper way to go about doing this. One idea is to slip a little printed note in with the invites of those who are welcome to bring a plus one. The other idea is to write on the inner envelope the guests name and next to it, "and plus one". I'd love any input. Thanks!

I should've done this. Apparently it wasn't clear that if the envelope doesn't say "and guest" or "plus one", and I've had a few folks assume that they can bring someone with them when they saw the "Number of Attending ___" without spelling out the number of max invitees. I've had some awkward convos as a result of people's lack of knowledge of wedding etiquette.

My cousin just sent her invitation to my family with the same thing: "5 seats reserved in your honor." Do you know the etiquette of inviting my boyfriend if my brother can't make it?

With online RSVP happening more often than a response card and an inner envelope -- I added a guest to their online RSVP and the following extra note inside their invitation...

    A Special Note

We are thrilled to include you in the celebration of our marriage. We have included an extra guest in the online RSVP for you. If there is a special someone, who you want to bring along, please add their name online. Don’t feel pressured to find a date or bring a friend, it is going to be a great party since you will be there! Love, Suzanne & Tony
