How do i navigate wood chips with my dress and heels?

Amber, on September 23, 2018 at 2:34 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12

Below is a photo of the ceremony site. I am absolutely in love with getting married in the woods, however, I am at a loss with how to navigate all these wood chips! My dress has a train with some lace and I don't know what to do with it so the chips don't get all tangled in it. I am looking into a platform that I can stand on with my wedding party at the altar but I don't know about the aisle. I'm not totally sure the platform is a good idea either. Thoughts? The rest of the venue is wonderful with gardens, grass, and concrete so that shouldn't be a problem.

    Can you lay a runner?

I was also going to suggest a runner. I think that’s the only option if the wood chips are a permanent feature

I was reading horror stories about runners. Do you think it would play nice with the wood chips? Seems like a bumpy, major tripping hazard.

I don’t think it would be any worse than the wood chips by themselves lol. Maybe you could talk to the venue staff and asked what other brides have done? And if you have free access to it maybe even try the runner with heels (I’m super anal so this may be crazy but something i’d do hahaha)

I agree with looking into a runner. If you haven’t already bought shoes, you might consider wedges or flats just so that your heel doesn’t get caught in the wood chips.

Wow what a beautiful venue! Where is it? I highly recommend wearing wedges or some kind of shoe that is flat on the bottom. We're getting married in the rocky mountains and well, it's rocky. So I'm doing wedges.

Yeah, part of my walk is on sand, so even though it is hard, it is still sand. I'm going with platform wedges (I'd prefer flats, but my fiancee is a full foot taller than I am). For the train, not much will help with that but for a runner of some sort. I am sure the venue has a lot of experience with this issue, so I'd check with them.

Wedges for sure. I would skip a dress train if you can. No long veil. I would consider renting a heavy carpet (like ones they roll out at stores when it rains) and then putting a nice aisle liner on top of it.

It's in Snohomish, Washington. Twin Willow Garden. Yes, I think wedges or at least a thick heel is the way to go!

I had a runner at my wedding. Made It much easier to walk on. I would make sure it’s thick though.
