How do you decide whether the hair and makeup will be okay for you?

Natalie, on February 14, 2020 at 2:36 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10

When my sister was getting married her makeup was a pure disaster as she didn't try to apply it beforehand and it turned out it just made her look older. How do you decide that you want this particular makeup and do you try it beforehand?

I hired a professional! I can't do makeup to save my life and I didn't want to attempt it on my wedding day! I looked up a bunch of ideas on pintrest to show her and we're doing a trial run for my engagement pictures on March 16th!

Same with Mandee, I'm awful at doing makeup. I remember using Taaz as a teen to see how it would look like and also I used Photodiva to check whether the eye lines were good for me. But I agree that hiring professional is a must when you aren't sure you can do it yourself!

I think it just depends on you and what you like. I can look at someone else's makeup and just think that it doesn't look good because it's not my style and then the way that I like to do my makeup someone else can feel like That looks too plain, and it's not cute. I definitely agree to getting a professional makeup artist if you have the budget. I know I can do my own makeup and I can do it pretty well. But I just figured on this day when I'm going to have professional photography in my face. I'd rather have a professional do it and do it right so it looks great. I definitely say if you have not done so start looking at some inspiration for how you want your hair and how you want your makeup. For example. I already knew that. I wanted a more natural look maybe with a little pop of color and I did not want Glam on my wedding day. Plus. I know my fiance prefers me looking more natural than with tons of dark colors and all of that.

The best thing to do is research professional hair and makeup artists and schedule trials with them before booking. You can show them inspo photos of exactly what you are looking for and they will try to create the look you are trying to achieve. Once you find an artist that you like, does a good job during your trial, and is within you budget, you book them. Trials are the best way to insure there are no surprises on your wedding day!

That's why people do trials of both to see what would be good for the big day

I hired a professional and did a trial prior. I had pictures from Pinterest for her to give an idea of what I wanted.

Im just doing it myself. I grew up living for dance recitals for twelve whole years bc I got to wear the brightest red lipstick and 20 tons of blush. A lot of it is just like riding a bike but with more blending imo. Plus its nice to do a trial and critique my own skills whenever I want. I have found that I will for sure be giving myself the most boring eye look since I go nuts for that sunset yellow/orange/brown vibe. Im also trying to do faux eyelashes but idk if I can nail them in time since I was too young for them back then, so they might get nyxed (haha makeup pun, couldnt resist)

Testing beforehand IS the way to know whether or not its what you want for your wedding day. Whether or not you choose to do your own makeup or have a professional do it, doing a practice run and wearing it all day will give you the best idea of how it feels, wears, looks from hour one to hour six. If possible, you should also try to take photos with and without flash, indoors and out, to get an idea of how it looks in different light.

Just winging a new look on your wedding day is a huge gamble. Doing a practice/trial run is the way to go.

Yeah, I thought about it too! The only thing is that I'm not that good at doing makeup but lately it started to get better

100% recommend doing a trial for both hair and makeup before your wedding! It can be pricy especially with other wedding expenses but I think it’s worth every penny. It’s helpful for the artist too so they can get a feel for what they’re going to be doing on your actual wedding day. I planned my hair trial for the day I picked up my dress so I could see how it looked together. And I did my makeup trial the day of our engagement photos to see how it would photograph. I was super happy with the salon I chose. Wherever you end up, ask what their policy is for if your not happy with your trial. As in will you have to pay full price again for a new trial or will they redo it for free to make sure you’re confident that you’ll be happy on your big day
