How do you let invitees know you’re having an adults only wedding?

Stasip, on June 26, 2021 at 2:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
We’re not allowing children (other than the flower girl and ring bearer during the ceremony only) at our wedding. How should we let those we invite know this? My soon to be mother-in-law wants it to be on our invitation, but I’m not a fan of that. Would having language on our wedding website be sufficient? Please advise. Thanks!

You address the envelopes to the adults. ‘Mr and Mrs Daniel Jones” instead “The Jones Family “. Do the same on the reply cards. Either list names specifically of invited guests or “we have reserved __ seats for you”. Anyone who replies with children, you contact them immediately and politely tell them you cannot accommodate children unfortunately. No need to explain why.

Not inviting children should be clear enough.

Address your invitations to those specifically invited. If children's names are not on the invitations and you address couples by their names (instead of using the word "family") it should be pretty clear who is invited.

We had an adults only wedding and had the language "Invited guests only. Please no children." on our wedding website. We did not put anything on our invitations.

We will be including a line on our details card explaining that children of the wedding party are the only ones invited (they're in the wedding and will be leaving after the ceremony) and will be addressing the envelopes accordingly.

Got it. Yeah, that’s what I was figuring, but wanted to make sure I wasn’t crazy. Haha Thanks!

That’s what I think, but just wanted to be sure since my future mother in law keeps bringing it up.
