How do you order favors/table cards etc with such tight rsvp window?

Neeva, on October 26, 2019 at 10:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I am seeing that typically you should send invitations out 6-8 weeks before the wedding and having people RSVP 2-4 weeks before the wedding. If people RSVP right before the wedding how to order everything??? Ordering table cards, wedding favors, menus, programs and deciding on the seating chart... Seems like a tight timeline so wanted to hear if this became an issue for anyone, especially for the RSVP stragglers.

Thanks!

We just planned to have favors for all of the guests invited (ours was a little different, it was 1 per family because of the nature of the favor)
And for escort cards, I used basic invite and paid a little extra for faster shipping, though their normal shipping was pretty quick too.
As far as seating...I had everybody put in where they would go and removed and readjusted the tables as necessary. Imo, this is where the escort cards are king compared to a seating chart. Much more flexibility!

It was for this reason that we didn’t do a seating chart or plated meals (well that and it was cheaper for pizza lol) or any of the things you mentioned. We wanted as little stress as possible as well as having a low cost.

Maybe make your RSVP deadline a hard 4 weeks out, and if you haven’t heard from people by the 3 week tell them you’re sending in your things and you need to know by the end of the day if they can attend because if not it will be an expected no.

Cards are cheap, so order enough for 2 per person, once for seating, one for place. Easier than a chart, since that too would need updating. Easier to put cars in slots like a chart, or put on table numbers.

We had a calligrapher do our escort cards and she didn’t start them until we had all RSVPs in. Seating chart took maybe an hour. We didn’t do favors, menus, or programs. But if we did we would’ve ordered enough for everyone that we invited probably.

The Etsy seller that did my invitation suite also did my programs, menus and place cards. She was able to get them to me within a few days so once I got my final names I let her know. As for the favors/escort cards, I used personalized ornaments as both and contacted the Etsy store ahead of time to find out how quickly they could get them to me. They were able to ship them to me within a few days as well. My RSVP deadline was 2 weeks before the wedding so this gave me plenty of time to get everything before the wedding. I recommend doing your homework ahead of time and getting everything lined up so when you're ready to order that is all you need to do.

Possibly push back your RSVP date. My venue requires the final number 31 days prior to the wedding so luckily we have plenty of time. As earias said, research the people you're getting stuff from and see how fast they are able to get it to you. Check reviews as well, make sure they don't have a lot of comments about slow service
