How do you vet vendors?

Definitely read reviews on as many sites as possible! WeddingWire, The Knot, Facebook, Google, Yelp, etc. Also meet with them in person to ask questions about their policies (cancellation/postponement, deposit amount, remaining balance payment schedule, etc) and get general information. If possible, also ask to see recent examples of weddings that they've worked at (for example, ask a videographer to see a video from a recent wedding, or ask a florist for photos of bouquets they've done, or ask an officiant for an example ceremony script and/or video of an actual ceremony, etc). You could also search through Facebook groups for local weddings to see if anyone has posted about them, or even ask in those groups if anyone has used those vendors and if so, what their experiences were.

On top of what everyone else said, I went with my gut!

Reading reviews online from neutral sites that don’t pay for bad reviews to be removed: GoogleMaps, Yelp, Instagram, etc. There are countless horror stories of WW and the Knot removing reviews so that only 5 stars are available and other sites list bad experiences for the same businesses.


Also make sure you meet in person or a video call so you can tell if you click.
Definitely browse their portfolios and see if it matches your style.
