Summerbridejen, on July 1, 2014 at 4:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

If I want people to arrive at 11:15 how would I spell that out on an invitation I'm used to 11 o'clock 1130 but how do you put 1115 do you spell out the words?

Jean is right, you'll write "quarter past eleven"

I would write "at quarter past eleven in the morning" (I'm assuming it's the morning).

Mine was much easier though. It's at 2 pm so I just wrote "at Two o'Clock in the Afternoon".

You don't put the time you want people to arrive on the invitation, you put the ceremony start time. So if your ceremony starts at 11:30, that is the time that goes on the invitation. People know to arrive to a wedding 10-15 minutes early to get a seat.

I have never heard of a ceremony starting at :15 - people may be thrown off by that.

The wedding is at 11:30 but we have a champagne cart that people can have champagne when they walk in and the catering hall said 30 minutes before and I think that is too much time and that's also going to cut our time taking pictures because it's early in the morning. The hall opens at 10 AM if it calls for 11 AM we barely have an hour because if it says 11 people going to show up at like 1045

@Emily that's not necessarily true. If you know most of your guests tend to run late, like in my culture, you put an earlier time.

My wedding starts at 2 o'clock so we wrote it as half past one since ours is written in words.

If you aren't using : then I would just write it out. I honestly would just use 11:00 if you want them earlier than 11:30am.

I'd put 11:30 - more than likely people are going to show up at least 30min prior. I know I would - no one wants to be the person who walks in late to the wedding.

On our invites we put the time of the ceremony (11am) and put an insert with the invitation informing guest to allow 15-20mins to find parking. This way they know the venue doesn't offer onsite parking and they won't reach the venue at 10:55am.

Maybe you can put the start time of the ceremony and put an insert that says champagne would be served before the ceremony from11am-11:30am (or just put starting at 11am). This way they know and can decide if they want the champagne before the ceremony (some ppl might not want it and prbly would only want to come for the start of the ceremony).

Thank you so much for your words and advice. I guess I'm stressing about the amount of time we have for our pictures. The only good thing is about not having a bridal party is that will cut a time of pictures that we need to take. I'm really just worried about getting pictures of me and my future husband and a few other brothers sisters and parents. I'm leaning more toward 11 then 1130. And we will be having strawberries and champagne LOL
