how early can i do my candy favors....

Kelsey, on December 4, 2013 at 6:00 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone had any experience with doing candy jars for favors. I'm doing them in small mason jars I already have the labels done it cetera. I would love to get these knocked out but I don't know how soon I can stuff them with candy. I don't plan on vacuum sealing mason jars but if I have to I can they will probably be some kind of hard candy, or even gummy worms I'm not sure. If you have any experience with how soon you can you put candy in a mason jar and it stay good I would love the advice! Thank you!

Check out the expiration dates on candy in the stores. I did my Ghiradelli favors about 4 months before.

It really depends on what type of candy it is. If they are unwrapped like gummy bears, I wouldn't do it more than a couple of days. The candy will get hard and won't be fresh. If they are wrapped like chocolate kisses, chocolate has a shelf life of 6-9 months. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys :-) I'm tempted to do a hard candy that are already wrapped that way I can do it pretty far in advance. I have 3 months to go into the wedding and a lot to deal I don't want to have to worry about stuff in jars at the last minute lol
