How far in advance did you have your trials?

When did you ladies decide to do your hair and makeup trials? I'm six months out which I think is too soon. However, the mua that I've hired hasn't instilled confidence in me that she can create my vision. We've messaged back and forth and I showed her my inspo pics. She then sent me pics of ladies...
When did you ladies decide to do your hair and makeup trials? I'm six months out which I think is too soon. However, the mua that I've hired hasn't instilled confidence in me that she can create my vision. We've messaged back and forth and I showed her my inspo pics. She then sent me pics of ladies she's practiced on to create my look and none were close to what I want. I figure if I go early either we can work together or I know I need to find someone else. What do you think?

I usually color my hair every 8-10 weeks. I had a scheduled appointment and looked at the calendar and realized it was 20 weeks before wedding- so I made an appointment for 10 weeks and another for two days before the wedding. I then also scheduled the trials for that 10 week day because my hair would be the same length etc. and makeup same time to get the whole look.

Better to do it now than to wait and find out last minute that she can't do what you like and have to scramble for a new mua

I did one before booking our HAMU artist, 1 year out. Then I did another 1 month before the wedding.

I would have a trial done ASAP. I ended up doing 3 trials with 3 different MUAs because the first 2 were just not good. I ended up feeling incredibly defeated and broke down crying thinking I was going to end up doing my own makeup.

I certainly hope your experience is better than mine! But if you are not feeling confident, even a little bit, I would suggest moving forward with a trial now, that way you have plenty of time to secure another artist if necessary.

I have my bridal trials this weekend and it will be five months out. There is nothing wrong with giving yourself plenty of time to work out changes if the initial trial isn't what you want!

I'm eight months out and I just had my hair and makeup trial on Sunday. I thought it was too early, but I wanted to make sure I liked them. If not, I had plenty of time to save more money and find someone else. It is very expensive to have trials.

I had my hair trial the month of thr wedding like couple weeks before it was a disaster but the day of she did an awesome job ... from what i hear from salons around here is they dont do the full look till the day of bc it takes to much time and most hair trials are cheaper which mine wasnt mine was same as day of ...but if shes not showing you signs she can do it now i would just look for a different person to do it or do a trial with her if you have the funds to do so now so you know to go with someone else or stay with her good luck
