How far in advance did you look at weather forecasts?

Danielle, on May 15, 2016 at 10:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

Our wedding is outdoors. Our rehearsal dinner is outdoors. The wedding is in two weeks. I didn't think I could even check forecasts this early but I was looking at the upcoming week and it tempted me with a "Next 5 Days" link. I clicked it. As of now, 80% CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS the day before and day of. Now I'm going to be obsessively checking. How am I going to get myself NOT to do that? lol

Ahhhhhhhhhhh

    Thank you Future Mrs C!

We have backup plans for everything but I will be SO bummed if we can't have the ceremony outside... and take photos outside. It'll just change SO much about the whole vision. Either way I'll be a married lady leaving for a Greece honeymoon the next day so anything that happens is what it is and the main goal of all of this will still be what matters... but HEY, you still want great weather. We all do.

I was going to do my hair half up/half down and now I'm even wondering if that's a bad idea in case it's raining. The struggle is real.

It sucks that it's literally the only thing you can't control

Right?! Ahhh so nervous. I just really really really would love to do our golf cart and golf course photos at the venue (it's a country club with golf). If it's raining there's no way. The backup plan is okay but definitely not ideal

Yep about 2 weeks out I was obsessed with the Weather Channel app on my phone lol. We had the backup plan of having the ceremony inside in case of rain, but rain just makes it hard in general to get in the venue, pictures, etc. We were lucky to have a picture perfect September evening. I wish the same for you!

I did the same and the forecast for my day has changed like 15 times so there's really no point in taking any stock in anything it says right now lol

My wedding is next weekend. I have checked the forecast every day the past week....every day it changes. Wait a week and check again. It will change.

I started looking a month out. I was obsessive about it and even compared years before with the farmers almanac. Ours went from 60% down to only sprinkles in the morning and clear in the afternoon so it can change over the week once the weather system moves.

I've been trying not to do the same - I just tell myself there's no point in checking this far out, it always changes and they're rarely right! And ultimately, there's nothing we can do about it anyways so why give myself one more thing to worry about! Fingers crossed for great weather.

I'm trying not to. It's been raining non-stop the last month and the forecast for the next 2 weeks is rainy/overcast. I'm still a month out so I have some time but I'm a worrier hah!

I first started peeking at the super long range forecasts a few weeks early! I made myself crazy.. I couldn't sleep at night. It wasn't good!!!

They change EVERY DAY sometimes more than once in a day! Its nuts!!! At some points it was forecasting crazy thunderstorms all day, but it ended up being perfectly sunny, albeit a little chilly.

I discovered Accuweather's 45-day forecast and it made me a crazy person (especially considering we live in Phoenix, where it rains about 10 minutes a year).

The forecast bounced from cold and cloudy to blistering hot and sunny (both of which I hated), and the week of, the temperature forecast would change more than once a day. It ended up being perfect, but I'd already talked myself into super cute rain photos just in case.

My business lives or dies based on weather so I am a constant checker too. The thing that sucks is they are wrong about the forecast SO often! I won't tell you not to stress (cuz it'll happen anyway) though @Kristy is right...it'll make you crazy!

Before I planned I looked at the historical forecasts to see how many years had rain on those days /week / month. My chance is very low. If it rains, great, it will make my uplighting stand out better than full sun.

About a week ago, I looked at the weather forecast for May 2017, lol. I did it more so to look at the averages for the month, though. I know it's definitely not accurate. But, it's unusually cold here for the May this year, I had to make sure I was making the right decision for an outdoor ceremony.

I've been checking now for August. Not taking the predictions to seriously this early out but make sure to have a plan B. Rain or shine I plan on having an amazing day and our wedding is outside!

This was my weather forecast the MORNING of the wedding. It was completely wrong and it poured from 6pm on. I know how hard it is not to check, but the forecast literally means nothing until it's the hour of!
