How far in advance did you start planning your wedding?

I've started with the little things like the guestlist, colors, i have collected a few jars for our candy buffet... We plan on really getting going after the holidays... so it will be about a year and a half in advance :-) Im so excited

We got engaged 14 months before our wedding, and immediately worked out the venues and the officiant. We waited until about 7 months out for the rest of the planning.

I started planning as soon as my FH started asking me about what kind of rings I like, our wedding is about a year away.

10 months and I'm doing pretty good :-)

We got engaged in December 2010. We made a rule where the first month of our engagement was "no wedding zone" - we just wanted to be engaged and not think about plans.

I started thumbing through magazines and contacting vendors in late January/early February 2011. So all in all it will be about 14 month of planning. Thank god we started then - we're getting married in downtown Chicago, and so many of the venues we liked were already booked through the following summer and fall!

I did take off a few months this summer and fall, b/c I just have to take a break every so often.

Our wedding will be almost exactly 2 years after our engagement. Due to living in separate cities and having horrendous schedules, we only managed to book our venue and date after 6 months / 18 months ahead of the wedding. Since then, we haven't had time to do anything else. 11 months left. Hopefully by May (6 months prior) we'll have some invites, food and a photographer picked... and hopefully attire as well. I'll be gone May-August so anything left will get done then. I just don't see the rush to get things done, but I understand that some do

I started planning pretty much right after we got engaged. I was in a little bit of a time crunch as we got engaged September 2nd of this year. My brother is getting married September 9, 2012. I knew that I didn't want to get married any time around his wedding (I'm talking months in between) but I didn't want a winter wedding so that would leave me either getting married in the Spring of 2012 or having to have over a year and a half engagement and wait until 2013 which is not what I wanted at all. So Spring 2012 was the only viable option to me while being leaving a respectful amount of time in between mine and my brother's wedding.

We just finally booked our venue and date officially over Thanksgiving so now it's a little bit of crunch time to figure out the rest. We have less than 5 months left and I feel like I have so much to do, but I know I can be done lol

I am planning but nothing have been set and stone as of now we are just saving. We would like 2014 wedding

We got engaged 7.7.2011 and will be married 5.12.2012 so I only have a ten month engagement. I got to planning asap!! LOL and I'm pretty much done- just got to do a few DIY projects and things closer to the time

We got engaged 8.12.11 and getting married 9.22.12

About a year. we got engaged on 10/08/11 and we're getting married on 10/13/12

I got engaged almost a year ago (Dec. 31st 2010) and I have started looking into to things, but because we don't have alot saved up we can't really do anything except look so once we get jobs and see how much we are making we can come up with a budget. But I have ideas about many things already... sooo I guess its good to plan ahead.

WOW! You ladies really have the ball rolling. So far I've picked up some of the small things like, cake topper, cake & knife server set, champagne flutes, I have our colors and I've started searching venues...... I have a looong ways to go, but hey you have to start from somewhere.. btw, we're renewing our vows celebrating our 10th year! Wooo hooo.. Happy Planning!

Just got engaged and I have about 7 months to figure everything out.

Yikes.

We got engaged 11.20.10 and we're getting married 8.4.12 --- so about 21 months. I loved having a long engagement...I really had time to get ideas, think things through and research vendor rates.

We got engaged on 9/26/11 and our wedding is 8/18/12. We have been doing the planning little by little. We have our wedding venue and reception venue booked, our photographer picked out, and the theme. Other than that we are piddling along slowly but surely. We are doing a little each month so we aren't poured down with all the finances of the wedding at one time. I want the last 4-5 months to be saving for the honeymoon. STD's and stamps will be ordered this month. We are making our own invites (fingers crossed) so I will be doing that in April/May and sending them out in June/July. Trying to figure out the party favors has been the biggest ugh for me. Make them or order them. Okay totally got off topic! LOL
