How far out did you book make-up and hair?

2ndTime, on February 19, 2017 at 11:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34

So the WW checklist says I should do this in May, which would be about 5 months before. Is that pretty standard, or should I be planning for this already?

It will just be me for make-up and me and my 6 year old daughter (MOH) for hair, if that matters.

My wedding is 66 days away and I just did my hair trial yesterday and booked my MUA and next Sunday I'm going for my hair trial, and if I like then I'll be booking my hair girl next weekend.

All Depends . Do You know who you want to do it? Do you have a relationship with stylist and artist ? Are you picky do u want them to come to u?

I have clients that book a year out for weddings and I have people who call 2 months before and sometimes they luck out sometimes they don't bc I'm booked.

Also going to salon leaves much more flexibility especially for small group .

If you are picky start looking into people checking out their work and then go get a trial and sign a contract

I've only had my make-up and hair done one other time in my life, and that was my first wedding. I'm not picky, but I think I want to go to a salon, away from the bridal suite at the venue.

Sounds like I have some time on this, I hope!

October is a very busy wedding month for me so as long as you're not set on a specific stylist or artist you have some time . If you know who you want BOOK IT! Or call and ask the salon you want bc if they do a lot of weddings you could get screwed

I've had one make up trial last week and decided not to move forward with her. I have another one for next month for my May wedding. I would say May is a good time to start looking and booking trials far enough in advance that you can change to someone else if you don't like it

I have mine set and mines next year but she's always busy so I made 3 one for just hair then just makeup, so we have time to change something I don't like during the appointment, 3 weeks before the wedding

I've finally booked my hair person but still working out finding makeup as first trial sucked! Hoping to get in with her next weekend to lock her in. :+)

I would also start looking at minimum requirements

A lot of vendors I contacted wouldn't do just me. They required a minimum of 4 people.

I think it depends on where you're having your wedding. If it's a big wedding destination, I would book as far out as possible. If not, you should be okay to book with 5 months left. I learned to work more quickly on my checklist because I chose a popular wedding destination and season. If you're unsure, it's NEVER a bad thing to be booked too early. Best of luck!

I book mine in the end of October for a June wedding. But she was the trusted vendor for the venue and offering a steep discount since I'm getting married there. I probably would have booked later otherwise.

I'm doing my hair and makeup trial on about 2 weeks. So about a month and a half away from the wedding. I found my MUA back in July (I just like to get things done early )

I personally would start doing some research. Many wouldn't/couldn't do my hair and make up because of the minimums. Which I of course understand. They wanted the larger parties, but it's just me getting the services. My options shrunk a lot once I realized that.

I already booked my hair/MUA to make sure she would be available for my November wedding date. I would say it depends on how in-demand the hair/MUA is.

I am getting married in September and I reserved my hair and makeup artist in the beginning of February. I had my makeup trial before I "booked" and I'm waiting to do my hair trial. But it makes me so much less stressed to know that it is booked.

I just booked mine a week or two ago, three and a half months out. Some I looked at weren't available.

I was going to go by the checklist but here in Maryland people are being booked up already! I secured hair but no make up yet.

I booked mine forever ago...I live in a small town and there is not a lot of options for HMU though. So I would probably lock them up soon!!

I booked mine already about 2 months ago but will have my trial about 2 months prior to the wedding.

I contacted my MUA in September 2016, she was already booked for January 2018! Then she contacted me a week later because the other bride changed her date. So I don't think you can be too early.
