How far out do you start your wedding registry?

I waited until a few months before the wedding. There's really no hurry. You'll be fine as long as you have a registry before your shower invitations go out. Plus, there's a far better chance that the stores will actually have the items you registered for. If you register now, the stores may stop carrying certain items and will have added other items you might light to have on your registry.

If you're having a bridal shower, I'd have it done a few weeks before that shower date. If you're not, I'd have it done maybe three months before your wedding date so you can still tweak it if you want and it'll be done before invitations go out.

We started our registry right after we got engaged, so 18 months in advance. We did ours on Amazon. It helped having so much time and having it already set up. When I saw something on TV or at someone's house I liked, I could easily add it since it was already set up! Or if we impulse added something (snow cone machine) we had a little while to realize we didn't need one! Haha!

We went with bed bath and beyond because I love to cook and I love that store. We also did Amazon for some other things and for the younger/out of town guests with shipping. I did mine about 11 months out, but I have to go back and go through them almost every month to make sure that I remove the discontinued items.

We're doing Zola, Crate & Barrel, and Williams-Sonoma. We've already set them up, but they won't be live until the wedding shower invitations are sent out. Like FutureMrsD, if we see something we like through ads or as things come up, we add or take off.
