How hot is too hot for outdoor wedding?

So I am stalking the extended weather and it is saying 80 degrees for the big day. It's not accurate because its pretty far out but the trend for the week is all about the same temp. I cant really afford many more add-ons but now I'm thinking I may have to splurge and rent fans for the tent. What do...

I'm sure 80 will be fine. If it were pushing 90 I would be concerned, but if the high is 80 it'll probably end up being comfortable as the night goes on.

I recently went to an outdoor wedding and it was in the mid-80's that day. The ceremony was outdoors in the hot sun and it was very uncomfortable. The guests had hand fans, but they didn't help much. The reception was in a pavilion, outdoor but shaded and there were fans. The reception was much more comfortable, the shade and fans made a huge difference. I would rent the fans, and make sure you have shade for your guests.

To me, temperature is relative. I've lived in SLC where it was close to 100 degrees but 0 humidity during the summer at times, and I found it comfortable especially in shaded areas. But 80 degrees in 90% humidity is THE WORST.

If your event is from 3-8 that is usually the hottest part of the day. I would get the fans.

Following - wondering the same thing. only our ceremony is outside (at 4pm) and the high right now says 81. I feel like it should be ok (I love the heat) but there is no shade really (unless the sun goes behind a building - wedding is in a park in the middle of dtown Cleveland)

To me 80 would not be bad as long as the humidity isn't high. I still wear jeans at 80 now. Back a few years ago when I was heavier, that would be a different story. At 80 I was wearing shorts and a tank top and still sweating. My suggestion is know your crowd.

It really depends. I live in Ohio so Im sure the weather is similar and it can get obnoxiously humid. I just did a wedding a few weeks ago and it was about 85ish but it was humid, no fan and even inside it was hot. No one really danced and everyone left super early.

I think that will be fine. A September 80 degree day is different than a June or July 80 degree day. Is it an evening reception? If so, it will cool down as the evening progresses.

It's not a bad idea to look into fans, just in case...

FH is pushing for fans so we will get them. I just wish they didn't add like $300 to our bill. But we wont need the walls since it isn't going to rain. yay for that!

I'd rent fans either way, but since your wedding is casual, think of it this way-- no one would even think twice about throwing an outdoor picnic in that weather. $300 in the grand scheme of things isn't bad.

Ugh I just checked the weather again and its saying record high of 93 degrees. I really cant afford the walls and the ac unit for the tent. How does it change 10 degrees in one day?? I need to put in the final details on tuesday so its better fix itself.

I had an October wedding hoping for high 60s/low 70s weather...I got 95. I was so mad! Weather is a bitch and so hard to plan for. THat said, I'd start looking for the money for the walls/AC in case. Cakes melt...people can pass out...etc. Heat can get ugly, fast.

80s is pushing it if everything is outside and it is humid. You have to think about the cake, how heavy your dress is and if people will be in the sun. You want everyone to be comfortable so they can enjoy themselves including you. Providing water to guests for during the ceremony will help, but you don't want to be wearing a heavy dress in the heat or risk the cake melting.

Our high for the day was 79. We had an outdoor ceremony, and a barn reception. It was 75 by dinner (5-6) and 60 by the time the wedding ended.

We had guests comment what perfect weather it was. We made sure the out door portion was in the shade, since 80 in the sun can be a bit warm, but under trees on grass it was fine.

Our venue also had an indoor portion people could escape to if they became warm, and we provided non-alcoholic lemonade and ice water throughout

I think you'd be fine if its 80, but I'm from FL! It will probably be okay if you're having a tent. Shade makes a big difference.

I just went to a backyard wedding in June it was about 80 degrees. I was in a sundress and felt fine. However, the men were miserable and especially the bride and groom who were in the whole get-up. If there isnt much shade for people to swarm to, then get fans. Otherwise, guest will leave earlier than anticipated.

This is the very reason why I decided on a winter wedding :o)
