How I asked my bridesmaids/bridesman! How did you ask yours?

Danielle, on January 13, 2014 at 7:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 23

I knew I wanted my sister to be my MOH because well, she's my best friend and I was the MOH at her wedding. So I had that one down...but then I had three more spots to fill and I knew I wanted them to be people I wasn't going to "lose touch" with so easily like I've heard people so often do.

My groom has identical twin sisters that are only a few months younger than me and they're beginning to feel like my own sisters, so I knew I wanted them! So I had two more down! Now for the fourth and final one...I was unsure because my best friend is a guy. And he's gay so despite people telling me not to or that it was weird, I wanted him as a bridesman and I saw no reason why I couldn't, it's my wedding!

So here is how I asked them!...With a delicious cupcake from a wonderful bakery, a ring on top with the words "It's my turn to POP the question! Will you be my MOH/bridsmeaid/bridesman?" They all loved it! One of his sisters even cried!

How did you ask your bridal party?

Haha I might have done that too but with my sister getting on pinterest so much and seeing all the cute ways people have asked, I knew she secretly wanted to be asked in a cute way. So I tried!

Lol i did what @Champagne did except for my MOH, i got a plastic mason jar, the one with the lids and straws, filled in with all kinds of goodies and put her name on it with, "will you be my MOH?"

I made them each custom wine glass, and ordered calendars for each girl with pictures of us throughout the years!

then on each bag i put a poem that i wrote!

I made you this calendar as a symbol of the years we’ve spent together,

Through the best and worst times, we’ve faced the weather.

As a reminder that even though there are days we didn’t talk,

Our friendship has remained constant like the moving hands on a clock.

While time keeps ticking, and days turn into years,

I will stand by your side lending you my ears.

Soon the day will come, one of the most important in my life,

The day that I am not longer single, and become Jeffrey’s wife.

I chose you specifically because you have been dear to me,

I always knew I would ask you to be in my wedding, before he got down on one knee.

So, I hope that you accept my request to come to my aid,

    Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

I also wrote a different one for my FSILs! (for this one, i found one online and changed it)

A wedding allows two families to blend,

Which means I will be gaining a sister and also a friend.

I am blessed that I get to be a part of your life,

As your brother and I become husband and wife.

I am beyond grateful that God gave me the man of my dreams,

And even more grateful for the family he brings.

So, I hope that you accept my request to come to my aid,

    Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

Just did the same as ChampagneTaste. My MOH is always on Pinterest and super girly, she would have probably loved to be asked in a super creative way, but I didn't have time for that! haha

Since we are doing a destination wedding, I bought each girl a Vera Bradley passport cover and wrote a poem that I made the size of a passport and laminated and then put in the cover. I asked them when we were all together on Christmas Eve so I wrapped them like Christmas gifts and gave them to them that way.

I bought the girls cookies that were in the shape of dresses. I was able to personalize the colors of them, etc. They said, "Will you be my Bridesmaid?" The cookie was a pretty decent size and the girls loved them! My FH just casually asked the guys if they would be a part of it and stand up there next to him.

For my MOH I put a ring pop in a box with a picture of us on the outside and on the inside it said "Will you be my Matron of Honor?"

For the others, I just called them and asked because they live far away and I don't get to see them much.

I made each a different home-made card with a cute poem and at the end asking them to be a bridesmaid. Along with a mini bottle of champagne and a ring pop! Wish I had taken pictures because the cards turned out great.

Went out to dinner with 2 friends from college (20 yrs) and asked them at the same time for bridesmaids then met my cousin at a music survey thing and asked her in person tobe MOH ( she was shocked!). Asked her daughter who is 19 at a church quilt bingo. I mentioned usher jobs to the nephews (all 15-28) at Christmas and most want to participate I think. Now if I could only see my childhood friend to ask her for her daughter to be flower girl I would be made in the shade. I have not ruled out asking my brothers to be in wedding, but they are more behind the scenes people than dressing in a tux and standing at alter.

I did a mini three - four page scrap book with photos from over the years. The first page had their name and photos, second page mentioned a memory, how long we've be friends, how we met, or something similar. The final page had a favorite photo, and my definition of a bridesmaid followed by Will You be my Bridesmaid? They loved it!

Two of them, I told back when FH and I started talking about getting engaged. One is my sister, the other is a friend I've had for 2/3 of my life.

My other one is a step-sister, and I had really waffled about if I could make her a bridesmaid without offending my other step-sisters that I'm less close to. In the end, I decided that it was more important for her to be up there with me than to worry about other people being offended, so I sat her down, gave a speech about why I hadn't asked yet (the others had been asked 2 months prior) and just told her it was important for me to have her stand up with me. She cried, I cried. We hugged. That... was pretty much it.

I just said, hey bitch, wanna be in my wedding, lmao. Kidding... kinda. But that's basically how I asked. I wish I would've been cuter about it.
