I am a bride on a really tight budget and I would love to save money in any way possible. So my question is how important are chair covers? Also if I get the covers do I have to get sashes as well? I attached a picture of the venue without the covers (a pic from thier website). Do you think I should...

I found mine online from another bride selling hers, I paid half of what I would have otherwise. Before that, I was planning to just use Tulle and make chair bows instead. Those chairs are nice without. Nobody will notice whether or not you do covers.

From your picture it looks like the chairs are black and would make your the color scheme you're doing. I'm only doing chair covers because the chairs are brown and my colors are black/red/ivory...and I found an amazing deal ($2 per chair which includes the sash/delivery/set up/removal). Otherwise...I wouldn't have wasted the money. I say go without!

Not THAT important, I didn't do it (not for budget reasons) but b/c I just like it better without them, I felt that was too much white in the room when I had a big reception. The wedding can still be gorgeous without them!

I am one of those who truly dislikes chair covers, I think they tend to look cheesey. Save your money.

I hate them. They never fit right, they're always creased; even if you have to rent a nice wood chair, it'll probably be cheaper than a cover and a sash. If there are nice chairs there, go with them.

I was thinking about doing chair covers but changed my mind. I have other things that are more important that have to be in the budget why worry about if the chairs are covered or not.

I was going through the same dilemma. The chairs at my reception hall are blue but my colors are green and champagne. But rather than spending a ton of money on the chairs, I decided to go with table runners that matched our theme. It will still look beautiful and it saves me a ton of money! Good luck!

I hate chair covers. I think they are garish. I call them chair pillow cases. I see nothing wrong with your chairs. If you are on a tight budget, save your money.

At my daughter's venue, the chair covers are included. She and I would prefer she rent antique gold chiavari chairs. Meanwhile her FH and his mother think they should buy pale pink sashes to tie onto the chairs. YUCK. It costs the same to buy sashes as it does to rent chiavari. I am hoping my daughter gets her way with her FH. Smiley smile

Hey, i personally like the tacky chair covers! LOL We are doing the chair covers and sashes tied in a knot (I hate the bow look) because our chairs are like yours but are navy blue with black polka dots which don't go with our theme in any way. Why do venues choose such tacky chair designs? If you are okay with the venues chair then def skip paying anything extra, weddings are expensive enough.

I just have to add this to everyone's comments. For all the girls who said they had to get them b/c their venues chairs were beat up. That makes me so ANGRY, that's where most of your budget is going toward your venue, they should have NO CHOICE but to have PERFECT chairs that in no way need to be covered. Chairs when not damaged look pretty enough on their own, & a cover to me looks TACKY. sorry... i'd rather have a plastic chair instead lol But that's just my opinion. And if a venue's chairs are so bad they should cover the cost to cover them, not you. If not i'd tell them they need to buy new chairs.

Stevie- your chairs are gorgeous!! Would see no reason at all to cover them! That's what all chairs should look like! Smiley smile

If you can include this in your budget I say more forward with them. The colors may clash with your color scheme. Don’t decide because of what your guests may say, truth is they are always going to find fault in something and when they can’t it may just boil down to…”there wasn’t enough salt on the veggies”…..it’s the reality. If you can rent 4-6 chair covers and go to your venue and set a mock table, look at both and make your decision then. They may make the world of a difference for your setting and the ambiance you would like to create.

If you can't really afford them, skip them. All they do is enhance the overall look of the room. Like table linens, like flowers, like everything else. But the most important thing is to get married to the right person. If you're doing that, nothing else matters.

I personally prefer chair covers to ugly chairs. Your chairs are the same ones we have and we are definitely using chair covers. And yes, I went to a wedding that did not have them and I did notice as it didn't look like the room was complete. Call me a snob if need be but so be it. Your chairs don't match your color scheme so I would use them. However, they aren't that important in the greater picture, if you don't have them in your budget them leave them out. There are plenty of things that are way more important to a wedding than chair covers.

I just have to throw my .02 cents in here - I agree that chair covers are not NECESSARY .... unless the chairs are hideous. For example, the chairs in the pictures from Stevie's post above are beautiful and I wouldn't dare cover them up. The chairs in the original post picture are ... well .... hideous. Sorry - don't want to hurt your feelings, but you asked for opinions and that's my opinion. I can understand tight budgets - I have one myself. And my venue has hideous chairs too - but my chair covers are included in my package.

I agree with Cavan that it would make the room look a little more put together. The chairs in your picture look red to me - doesn't exactly fit with your color scheme.

I agree with the majority & say you don't need chair covers. U*nfortunatly for me, I kinda have to get them because the chairs at my venue are a funky turquoise color (Not one of our colors!) so I opted to cover them with black covers & a champagne color sash. But if the chairs were more of a neutral color, I wouldn't bother covering them at all.
