It's important, but wasn't something we were willing to break the bank for especially since FMIL was paying for it. Our highest estimate was $1,500 for a 2 tier cutting cake and 120 cupcakes (for 100 guests). We went with the cheapest baker who quoted us $360. Here is our inspiration photo.

We are doing pies instead. Neither of us are big cake fans and there is a great local pie company that can serve 125ppl for $160.

The specific look of the cake doesn't matter as much. We mostly just want a cake that looks good and especially tastes good. So ours will be about $330 for 100 people with a few interesting flavors and some simple decoration. Exactly what we wanted! Smiley smile

Our cake will be similar to this one. 3 different cakes on 3 stands. Colors will be brown, turquoise and white. Edible flowers instead of fake or real.

We were quoted $1200, $1000, $995 and finally a lady in our town that bakes from her home and does a wonderful job quoted us $375. She obviously got the job. Our cake will be orange, strawberry and chocolate with butter cream icing. She is also making a white sheet cake that will not be seen.

We are kind of a doing a twist on the normal wedding cake. We are doing a very glam wedding cupcake stand and purchasing bundtinis (like mini budnt cakes similar to a cupcake). We are putting them in cupcake liners that match our decor. Our total for 200 people will be around $250. My mom is also surprising my groom with a cake which actually costs more than all of the bundtinis.

DH doesn't like sweets so he didn't care, I just wanted something simple. We found someone in town that only charged us $250 for 150 guests.

I am sooo excited to see my cake. I can't wait, this is one of the things I am really looking forward to. It was included in our package but paid an extra $100 to get it exactly how FH and I want it. I can't wait! I don't even want to have to cut into it! Haha

My cake was one of the important things for me. I found the cake I wanted at the bakery I wanted. 4 tiers, gum paste made flowers, and it's beautiful. My cake, for 125 people, was $721 and that includes delivery and set up. This picture is the cake I ordered, but instead of magnolias, I got coral peonies.

The cake was pretty important to me. This is our design, our bakery actually made this cake (I saw it on their FB page) so they know what goes into it. Ours will have less flowers on top to make room for a cake topper and it'll have purple ribbon instead of the cream. It'll also have a few purple flowers scattered on the bottom tier and the bottom tier will be wider to feed more people. With this cake for 150-160 and a full sheet cake to feed an additional 100 people it's $825 (including delivery).

Not important at all.... Our budget for cake was like, $150 for 200 people. We were planning on getting one cute cutting cake, and getting a bunch of sheet cakes from Costco. However, a family member who is a baker really really wants to make our cake for us and now we are having some fancy ass cupcakes. They will be gorgeous, but if I had to pay what she normally charges, there is no way in HELL I would ever ever ever have them!!

Not important at all. I didn't even want a cake, but my aunt insisted on making one. It was really pretty and tasted good, but I only had one bite. What I did enjoy was the 12 dozen donuts, YUM!

I care about it tasting good! And it will. Our venue happens to include cake from my favorite cake place ever, so it worked out Smiley smile All I'm paying is $100 for extra tall tiers.

WOW!!! I must say I really though more bride would be more into the cake than I have seen on this post. I am not a cake person myself. The prices you guys are giving makes me feel like I have been getting riped off. The cake I was quoted 1000 for was a four tier cake to feed 200. with raspberry filling and buttercream alternating layers. The layers were stacked with the top two seprated from the bottom. I really just took several pics and meshed them into one. I liked the ribbon boarder with bead piping on the first and third layer and the a quilted print on the second and four layer.

I seriously don't care about the wedding cake. We're doing it because it's included in our catering package through our venue. You can pay extra to go even fancier than what they offer, but we're going with one of their choices (white tiered cake with fresh flowers in between). I'm much more excited for our smores and ice cream bars!!

I honestly think you're being ripped off. It's just cake, $1000 could go to more important aspects of your wedding but if cake is that important to you then go for it
