I recently took my dream cake pics to a cake decorator and OMG was I in for a surprise with the cost. I am look at a cake for 150 people and it rounds off to $1000.00. I thought I had picked simple designs that would not affect the cost, smh. Let’s see you dream cake design and the amount you are looking to pay for the prefect cake? Yea there's so many other things to be stressed out about, and in my opinion cake is not one of them.

The CAKE is most important of all!!! i can skip the whole meal and be good as long as i have cake. i am obsessed with eating cake (it's my weakest point) but honestly if i was paying a grand on cake i would go to someone else. that is seriously crazy. our budget is around 400 for roughly 120 people. and we are doing a sheet cake in the back to feed about 80 more people. you might just want to do that. our decor is simple just a huge flower and a our initial on top. the person quoted me over the phone for $200 so far. and it's an organic all natural cake (so half the fat and calories of a regular cake. also very important for me since now i eat very healthy (lost 120 lbs bc of healthy living!)

    Ashleigh, such a cute idea!

We paid under $400 for our cake which fed 152. They delivered our cake as well which was about 25 minutes out of town.

A lot of places are giving the one year anvi. cake, so you can have the top part of the cake faux. My cake is going to feed 177 people and I am providing all the needed stuff like the roses and ribbon. It's 5 tiers the top fake. I got it from www.deliciouscakes.com they were giving a 20% off discount and free delivery so my cake came out to be 456.85.

I got quoted 5-6 $ pp for a simple vegan cake. So $1000 for 200 doesn't seem like a rip off to me.

Wedding cake is not that important to me. Cake in general I love, but it's not worth the price at these events. I can't even recall the cakes at past weddings I've attended. I've budgeted around $150 for 200 guests. I'm getting a small raspberry cream cake for my fiance and me. It's probably an 8-piece size cake and we've bought it before when friends are over for a dinner party. It's typically $40 at the bakery, but they constantly offer Groupons to save $15.

Everyone else is getting Sams Club sheet cake; the venue staff will cut and plate it and bring it out. People always say good things about these types of cakes. Luckily we got out of the cake cutting fee, otherwise it'd be another $1.50 per slice for them to cut it.

My cake is very important to me. I am a pastry chef and I have always wanted to make my own wedding cake. I won't be making it but I will definately want a lot of detail and will be a control freak when it comes to the end product! If you ever have questions about what pricing could be like I would be glad to help. In the end the pricing is all about how many people the cake is going to be for, if it is buttercream or fondant, real or sugar flowers, and how much detail you want.

I will be doing a faux cake with the cutting tier and top saving tier being real and then we will have cake in the back that will be cute for everyone else. Im still not exactly sure what we will have for our cake topper. Here is a pic of what I really want to do for our cake.

And personally a cake for 150 people even with a lot of detail shouldn't be more than 600. If that

The cake is not that important to me, though I would LOVE to have a great looking and tasting one. Cakes are very pricey! Mines is included in my catering location price at Chateau Briand!! SoI'm going with the cake choices they have

It's fall, we both like spice cake, so we want spice cake. This apparently puts bakeries out of the question. One of our close friends said she'd love to bake for us, so that's what's happening. Don't know what it'll look like (we haven't discussed details yet), but hey, as long as it tastes good, that's the important part, right? She says she doesn't want payment, but I'm figuring she'll be getting a kitcheny gift from us as a thank-you.

The cake was important to me. We are having the one below that I found of Pinterest (with a silver glitter Mr & Mrs Stacker cake topper). We found a bakery that will be able to duplicate it for $450, the only change we are making is the top will be different as I don't like the bow, haven't decided what will be in place of it yet though

Mine is very important bc I love the sweets and so does fh. I don't have any pics on here but it is going to be 3 tiered squared with zig zag ribbons in between tiers and a daisy on top. We're also doing cupcakes in different colored buckets. We're feeding between 120-150 people and it only costs $306 for cake and cupcakes together. We got an amazing deal at $3.00 a slice and $1.00 a cupcake. She also doesn't charge a delivery or rental fee and her cake still tastes good.

I didn't think the cake was important until I met with the lady who is doing ours and she showed me some designs. My budget was $750 and she ended up quoting me about $900 for about 150 people and we are figuring on having 200. I'm ok with running out of cake though LOL. My mom offered to pay for the cake after I spazzed out about the cost. Now my mom and the cake lady are saying it's gonna be about $1000 +/- for a 5 tier cake. I'm so excited to see how it turns out!

Cake was pretty important to us, but also not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on it. So it was a group project in my family, my sister was the main cake person but then she got sick right before the wedding and had to delegate and oversee my brothers. That had some interesting moments lol.

The cake was not important to us. Neither my husband or I even like cake so it was really just for the guests. We paid like 250 for a cake for 150 people

The taste is important, not so much the look. i don't know what it cost because it comes in a package with the venue.

it will look like this, with blue orchids as the flower, much lighter color (more silvery), and this cake topper

My cake is very important , however I'm a cake designer who has had cake on TLC show. so it is expected by everyone that my cake will be a showstopper.... it will only cost my time and ingredients..i am making a fake display cake with a cutting tier since i would never try to make a 7 tier real cake two days before my wedding... i will have sheet cakes in the kitchen to serve.. but i have to deliver an amazing cake display or i will never live it down... here is one of mine from Four weddings

I love cake. We've got 3 layers (6, 8 & 10") with different flavors for each layer, buttercream frosting, delivery & set up for $270 from a local baker.
