Ladies,

I recently took my dream cake pics to a cake decorator and OMG was I in for a surprise with the cost. I am look at a cake for 150 people and it rounds off to $1000.00. I thought I had picked simple designs that would not affect the cost, smh. Let’s see you dream cake design and the amount you are looking to pay for the prefect cake? I think I'm going to do grocery store cakes on pretty cake platters. That way I can have plenty of cake a cake flavors. I really love cake so there has to be cake at my wedding. It doesn't have to be a traditional wedding cake though.

The taste of the cake was important to me. The appearance, not so much.

Besides my guests having a good time, the cake is the most important thing to me! I honestly could care less about the food, photography, flowers, etc, but I do care about cake. It will probably cost around $1000.

Very interesting ladies to see everyone's take on the wedding cake. Its amazing to see different sizes of the spectrum on this topic. I would say I fall somewhere in the middle. Its not $1000.00 worth of importance to me, but its a great photo opt for the wedding pics during the cake cutting ceremony (which my mom talked me into doing). But I figured if I got with a cheaper cake ~300.00 I could still afford a dessert buffet which was all I really cared about any way. Beautiful pictures ladies!!!

Two tiers, consisting of 2 layers per tier. 10 inch and then I think 8 inch. Chocolate with strawberry filling. White buttercream rimmed in white pearl sprinkle things. We'll finish it with roses and rose petals ourselves. $50ish. From HEB lol.

My wedding cake is important to me, but I want very basic decorations and I'm not willing to break the bank for it. The taste was most important, and since you can't really screw up a pleated white design, I was able to find a yummy cake for what I think is a good price! My cake will be $325 for 3 tier (16, 12, 8 inches) including delivery.

Not at all important to us. I would have gone with a flat sheet from a grocery store if MIL hadn't offered to pay for it.

As long as it tastes amazing, I don't care what it looks like lol I'll pay extra if it means it's cake that people won't forget. I'm a cake freak.

Not important. I want a good dessert, flavor is definitely a must.

I originally wanted cupcakes, but I fucking love PIES! I might do a mix of both but have miniature cupcakes.

I hope I don't pay more than 200. It seems possible in my state.

Super important because my H and I are like kids, we love cake, ice cream, candy and anything sweet! Here are some pictures from my actual cake, from Porto's Bakery! Lucky for me the cake was included in our contract with the venue.

My cake is included in my package. (I specifically looked for a venue that included cake, decor, and ect) The bakery they work with will let me pick and choose between options which is nice so I'm not getting a standard cake, but not one that will break my budget either. =] My theme is elegant yet cheap. haha

~ $120 for 100 guests, painted fondant. Making it myself. No cake cutting fee at my venue.

Holy smokes!! There is no way I'd pay for a $1,000 cake! I'd rather bake it Betty Crocker style and call it a day for some stress and $20. I put the cake in FH hands so I have no clue what it will look like. We are having a family friend make it (though he's charging us like a normal bakery), but his cakes are the bomb so it will be worth the taste!

I thought my cake was going to be more important than it has ended up being. I'm excited about it and more excited that my best friend is making it for me but the design seems like a trivial detail most of the time

To us the came is important not because of what if looks like or because we want to make a features of it (we aren't cutting the cake) but because we are both cake people and just really really like cake.

I LOVE to eat cake (and now my mouth is watering looking at all of these) but it definitely isn't a top priority as far as looks. Luckily we get it included with our venue and as long as it isn't really difficult then anything goes! So I guess that balances the fact that we're required to get a DOC.

These are just some inspiration pictures for now but we definitely want some tropical flowers!

Not important at all. My FH hates cake. Think i am just gonna do cupcakes from sams club which i think taste wonderful and have a small cake for us to cut. Should be under $200 for 250 ppl

Very important , since FH and I both love sweets. We are doing a dessert buffet with a mini cake (pictured) , turtle cheesecake, chocolate covered oreos , Reeses Pieces Brownies / Regular Brownies , and strawberry shortcake shooters.
