How is your planning going?

Hi all, how is everyone wedding planning going? I’m planning a small wedding, well I thought I was. Half of everyone we personally invited, invited their own person to come as well. I’m like seriously. Oh well it’s going and we are almost there. How about you all?

Hello Brianna, I'm having the same problem with the plus one's. Everyone is an expert until you ask them if they want to help pay. I refuse to be stressed. We are planning for 50pp. It is difficult though to decide. But I want a lavish honeymoon, so 50 pp it is. You are right about Caters!!! The prices!! YIKES!!!

Exactly! I am not about to be paying for everyone and then their plus one. We are very selective about this. And honestly if someone feels they MUST have a plus one, then they need to pay for their spot (cost per person). I’m sure that would be something that will cause many to reconsider.
And yes, our rule is if you don’t (financially) contribute, you have no say.

Yikes!!! I would be so bridezilla. It is rude for invited guest to just invite who they want to someone else's wedding. Family or not, without first asking and making sure its clearly OK with the bride and groom. Our venue is 200 capacity. Our guestlist is about 150 but I'm truely hoping for less . I would be happy if its only 60 to 75. I wish you luck and congrats. You share your wedding day with my FH's niece (one of my bridesmaids) she gets married on May 27th also. And the day after my birthday. Then she gets to stand by me in my wedding next year, May 18, 2024.

I agree with you, the invites has stop and no one else is or has been invited. We are currently at 47 guests. That’s a good number for right now. Now the focus is on little details like the cake, what’s going in their gift bags and things like that. I picked may thinking that it may not be as hot as June. I hope we all have a beautiful day as planned filled with happiness. I wish you the best with happy planning.

Mannnnn, listen I thought I was the only one having this problem. Our wedding is planned for September and we were also trying to have just a small/medium wedding/reception but that has changed and we even have people who refuse to rsvp and expect to be able to just walk in. I cannot get them to understand that the catering is based on the head count. I finally just told my fiance' that if they show up with thought confirmation, they will NOT get fed or be seated.

I agree! This is SUCH an outdated practice. Like you said, not everyone wants to get married but that doesn’t mean they’re not a legit couple. So rude!
