How late is your venue allowing you to stay?

Alicia P, on July 28, 2013 at 12:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

I am planning a destination wedding in the US no location picked yet. I am finding that a lot of venues are done at 10pm with a last call at 9:30pm. Because my FH family is coming over from New Zealand I want the party to be able to last till later. But I am curious to ask is how late will your wedding go? or How about you Brides that have already gotten married... Did you want to the party to last longer but because of the venue you picked it had to be earlier? if so I would love your feed back on what you did after to keep the party going or did you feel that the early ending was enough when it did end.

We haven't booked yet, but our top 3 choices are allowing us to stay to midnight.

Last call is at 1:30am. There's no set time for the guests to leave but the cordinator said people are usually gone by 2:30am because there's no more alcohol. I'll probably cut it off earlier than that though because I don't wanna pay the DJ that late and I know I won't be able to stay up that late.

I would love to hear where your venues are. I'm still hunting for a vintage rustic venue with a barn. Anywhere in the u.s.

Midnight but a lot of brides end up doing an after party, where they and a select group of guests go to another place (often a club) and continue the party. Plus the club is a cash bar, so you aren't responsible for the tab there.

There is whats called the Birdsong Barn in Tittusville FL,

    https://birdsongbarn.shutterfly.com/

Louann is the owner and it sits on I think 20 acres. It's roughly 30 minuts from Orlando, fl. She has a beautiful location. It's got that conutry feel, she has mismatched country tables of all shapes & sizes, dishes, glasses etc... Very neat.

My latest contract with a bride in that venue stipulates 12 midnight. She may negociate an additonal hour.

    Good luck!

Alicia P, I'm not sure where you're located but I'm in West Texas and there's a GORGEOUS venue here called Fulford Barn that sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for. Look it up!

My venue is allowing us to stay until midnight. Our wedding isn't starting until 7:45/8:00 though.

11pm. In my experience, most people can't party for more than like 6 hours. You could consider having a dinner the night before for out of town guests if you want to spread around the frivolity?

We have our venue for 5.5 hours, but we could choose whatever time frame we wanted. We chose 4:30-10pm. And anyone who wants to hang out at the hotel afterward can. We are getting married at The Barn on Bridge in PA.

Our reception is 6:30pm-12am, which is when we needed to be out. We also looked at venues that made you leave by 9pm-10pm. I think it depends on noise restrictions in the area.

We're having a semi-destination wedding at a rustic venue in New York... Everyone stays on-site and we have exclusive use of the property all weekend. Our reception officially ends at 11, but one of the buildings is an old roadhouse where we can have an afterparty until the sun comes up.

The venue is called Full Moon Resort and the website is fullmoonresort.com

Vintage rustic in a barn. It's all about the noise regulations in the town.

Perona Farms, in Andover NJ (close to NYC)

Feast at Round Hill in NY state

    Blue Hill Barn in NY

Brooklyn Winery(not a barn but a fab rustic site)

    Applefarm Barn in NY state

We have to turn the music off at 11. But we can continue our party down by the campfire as long as we keep noise to a minimum

Music has to be off at 9, but we can stay until 10.

FSIL had to be done by 11 at her venue.

Celebration Barn in Iowa City, Iowa. It's stunning inside. But it's not where I'm getting married, someone just said they were looking for a barn!

In Chicago access is based on a) liquor laws and b) your wallet. Hotels are your best bet for a late event, because they have staff scheduled regardless. But likely not later than 2AM.

You could also plan an after party at a nightclub, or just rent a party bus that takes those who choose to go out to a bar. There are still some bars in Chicago that have 4 AM licenses. And there are some that will just lock the doors and keep the party going as long as you have money, but you need to know someone to get them to do that for you.
