How long after your wedding did you go on honeymoon?

Heather, on February 16, 2016 at 2:27 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 58

I would love to go right away but bw work and budget it may not happen.. I feel like you should do it asap so it feels like an actual honeymoon and not just a vacation..

What was your honeymoon budget?

Would you go on a mini moon while you save money or just do it when finances allow?

Wedding was at 3pm Saturday. We got to our hotel room by 2am. We were on the road by 8am Sunday to get to the port for our honeymoon cruise.

We had a budget of $****.

ETA: I liked leaving immediately after the wedding. It allowed us to get into the rhythm of us as a married couple and enjoy our brand new newly wedded state. We had our phones off for the entire time we were gone, so it was also nice to come back to all the messages and notifications that had love for us.

We decided to hold off on an international honeymoon until 2017 (probably April). So, we're leaving on Monday (Saturday wedding) to go to Key West for a week. It'll probably be $2,500-ish.

Wedding on Saturday, sorta-DW (2 hours from our family, 6 hours from where we live). Staying in a cabin in the area for several after the wedding. Very budget friendly. Cabin was $120/night, and since we're in the mountains most of our activities will be outside (read: free). Several of our family members asked if they could contribute to the honeymoon, they have gifted us experiences for the honeymoon (zipline tour, Biltmore tickets, spa gift certificate, restaurant gift certificates). Including the gifts, we're around $1500 for everything.

We are leaving a week after our wedding. We wanted to leave right after but we have 2 children and wanted to spend some time with them after the wedding before we left. Our budget was around $3000. We are going on a cruise!

We're waiting a week. We wanted to do a cruise but thought it would be too crazy to get married on a Saturday night and then fly out early Sunday morning to make it to a port! We'll wait a week, relax, organize gifts, money, and final payments, and pack before we head out. I'm taking the week in between off work.

My dad's offered his lake house in Georgia for a "mini moon" for us. We want to go to Europe, which will be pretty expensive, so we're not leaving immediately.

DH was going to have to go to court for a client shortly after the wedding. After that was supposed to be over, the weather in our preferred destination was not great. In the end our honeymoon will be 7 months after the wedding! Not ideal, but I'm glad for the extra time to plan and save for it. We did not take a mini moon but did have a few days of stay-cation immediately after the wedding. Our budget is $6,000 for 10 nights in Greece. It's our first big trip together (in 7 years together!) and I'm so excited.

We got married on a Saturday and left for our honeymoon that Wednesday. We saved $400 a ticket by flying out Weds. instead of Monday! I'm a teacher and we got married in the summer, so working wasn't an issue for me. DH works from home Mondays anyway and went into the office Tuesday before we left for the honeymoon Weds. morning.

ETA: We spent 8 days, 7 nights in Riviera Maya Mexico in a swim-up suite at an adults-only, all-inclusive resort Secrets Silversands. We spent about $3,200 which included round-trip, non-stop airfare, airport transfers, all taxes and gratuity. We spent about $200 more each on 2 different excursions while we were there.

We got married on a Friday and left for the airport at 5am Sunday. I know everyone and every situation is different, but like you said, to me, going immediately after feels more like a honeymoon and not just a vacation. You have to do what your time and budget allow. We went to Sandals in Grenada and it was around $6000.

We went on a mini-moon to Cape Cod which is near us, but our real HM is going to be in Valentin Imperial Maya in Mexico. Total cost with flights just under 3k for 6 days.

Getting married on Saturday, flight leaves at 6:30Am Monday for the riveria maya. It just seems so anticlimactic to just...go home after you get married. But our all inclusive is about 3,000$ including flights.

We are bringing some wedding money for a few excursions too.

We got married on 10/16 and went on our honeymoon 11/9. It was about a month and still completely felt like a honeymoon. Go whenever you can afford it and is right for you. And it doesn't matter when you go, its still your honeymoon.

We're doing our wedding on Saturday, our brunch with family/OOT'ers at my favorite place on the planet on Sunday, and then we're heading out Monday morning. It may not have happened this way without an incredibly generous gift of the honeymoon from FH's parents but I'm so glad it is - I personally want it to be one big wedding whirlwind.

We budgeted 6,000 and FFIL is gifting us our flights so we are going to bora bora the day after the wedding for five nights, six days. If we had to purchase the flights we would've gone to Hawaii or Cabo.

Getting married on Saturday, leaving for St. Lucia on Monday. It was way cheaper than flying out on Sunday and this way we can lazily make our way from Austin to Dallas on Sunday and not have to rush to the airport.

ETA: we got a great deal on Sandal's cyber Monday sales and got an all inclusive 5 night trip with flights for around 4K.
