How long did it take to get used to saying "husband" or "wife"?

Jo, on April 30, 2018 at 8:02 AM Posted in Married Life 0 18

It seems like as soon as you get used to saying fiancé(e), the wedding day comes and it's time to change what you call your partner. How long did it take you to get used to saying "husband" or "wife"?

I am not married yet but I don't think it will be long, sometimes we refer to each other as that anyways lol.

I've been with FH 15 years and have 4 kids, we have just said husband/wife for the last 7+ years. I never referred to him as my fiancee... that did seem strange to me! Lol

We will be official in 26 days but use the H and W words already. We work together and its sometime easier in our field to say that instead of fiance or girl/boyfriend.

I have no trouble using the term "husband". He routinely refers to me as his "future wife" or "wife" already.

I’ve been calling him husband for the past couple years hah! Having to remember to say fiancé in public was what tripped me up.

I still find it weird! he calls me his wife more often than i call him my husband, i default to calling him my partner more often because that's what we both used before we got married. it's been almost a year and i'm finally coming around to calling him my husband, haha.

We basically already call each other husband and wife. I feel more awkward saying “fiancé” and can’t wait to really refer to my FH as my husband.

It didn't take long to adjust to fiance so I assume it'll be the same with husband/wife. The other day someone referred to him as my husband and I had an "oh crap, I'm going to have a husband!" Moment lol

My bf who will be proposing in the next couple months will only be my fiance for about 2 months, we decided on a whim with a nudge of a client to get married in sept. She decided to take on the huge task of hosting, cooking for and decorating for our wedding (basically a free wedding planner😁) so her only thing was she didn't want us waiting anymore so a lot changing in 5 months! I will be odd saying fiance for so little time then right to husband, but we are excited😄

Literally no time at all. It was instant, and very natural for us.

It was a much easier transition for me than "fiancé" - but sometimes I still slip up and say "boyfriend"!!Smiley shame

I never really liked the term fiancé (like we got engaged and suddenly we're French?) It's not been my favorite term, people have been calling my FH my Husband and I don't correct them. I love how it sounds and how it makes me feel!

It will be hard for me, I strictly use his nickname, so husband just seems weird!

Love the photo!!! Our just married sign is also going on a classic. A bit newer ... A '67 Chevelle, but a classic! We have been calling each other husband and wife for years already, as we've been together 15.5. However, even though it's what we've considered each other for so long, hearing it, knowing it's about to be "real" seems so strange!!! Odd, I know. Lol.

He already calls me his wife, and he my husband. We're older, and are second marriages and children. Since we've elevated responsibilities (though we don't live together), it felt natural!
