How long did it take to get venue contract??

Lindsay, on October 5, 2020 at 4:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
We toured and filled out a licensing agreement request for the venue. We were told our date was secured and we’d get a contract within a week.... it’s been over 2 weeks.

How long did it take y’all to get your contracts??

Since the timeframe that they told you that you'd have the contract by has passed, I would try following up with them to ask for an update.

I emailed her Friday evening with a follow up. Haven’t gotten a response yet. But it’s only been one full business day since I’ve sent it.

Makes sense. If they don't respond by like Wednesday, I would try calling or stopping in the venue (if they're open for walk in) to try to get an answer. If still no response by the end of the week, I honestly at that point would find a new venue who can communicate better. If they're this difficult to reach before you've locked in your contract, they're not trying super hard to win your business, and their lack of communication may cause issues later on after you signed the contract (and then you're either stuck with them or will lose money by exiting the contract).

In pre-COVID times, we got our venue contract in 3 days.

How has the venue been with communicating otherwise? I get that all vendors are super slammed right now and have no problem giving them some leeway, but I wish that in general, they would do a better job of setting expectations and allowing some buffer time for themselves.

    Hopefully they respond soon!

Yes they’ve been pretty good with communicating and what not before. I wanna get started with vendors but don’t want to until the contract and deposit is all set and guaranteed!

That's definitely the right mindset! Fingers crossed they respond in the next couple of days!

It's so frustrating to wait, though. We booked our venue, photographer, and DJ within a very short time of one another, so I completely get wanting to move onto other things!

We got ours the day we toured. Every venue is different and some are big/small meaning some have many weddings and some only have a few. I would wait another day and if they don't get back to you then I'd look for another/backup. Things are filling up SO quickly cause of COVID.

If you're having trouble getting in touch with the venue and they aren't following through with what they promised to do, that's not a good sign. You want to be very sure you can trust the venue with your big day and get ahold of them if anything comes up!

We had ours that same day. I wouldn’t count it as being booked until the contract is signed and deposit is made.

Thanks y’all! They just sent the contract over and gave us a week to get it done.

I would give them a call. Mines told me I would have it within a week and I called them on the 9th day and there was a mixup on their end so as soon as I called they mailed it right out. It definitely wouldnt hurt to call and just say you are just checking in to see if they got around to sending out your contract yet.
