How long did it take you to put together your registry?

Meghan, on January 4, 2019 at 11:14 AM Posted in Registry 0 16

FH and I have been meaning to get to Bed Bath & Beyond to do our registry for months now but keep putting it off, I think partially because we don't know how long we'll be there working on it. Both of our moms have asked us about where we're going to register and what we're going to register for, so I feel like we should get it taken care of soon. So how long did it take you to put together your registry in store? An hour, two hours, more?

Hey Meghan. That’s just going to depend on how many items you plan on registering for in addition to if you know what you want or not.

We did ours online, and we've added/taken off quite a few things over the last few months. Can you start it online?

Oh my goodness! It is taking us too long. We have not been doing the in-store shopping, just making registries online, but I have WAY to many people asking about where we are registered at. People look at me crazy, because apparently that's one of the first things that should get done. We are working on ours though and are only registering 3 places; Target, Amazon and Menards.

We are using Zola.com and it is so easy and convenient! They have a tracker to show you how many gifts you should register for and at what price point. It also has like a category checker so you know you’re not forgetting anything. We used them for our wedding website as well! highly recommend!!

It takes some time! We registered in store at BBB and at Crate & Barrel. BBB took us about 3 hours to get through the store, we just made sure we showed up well fed and not pressed for time. Smiley smile Crate & Barrel took about 2 hours. We took photos of things that gave us ideas or that we wanted a different version of, and used that to build up our amazon registry.

That being said, we are having a larger wedding (150 households invited, 60 at a shower, and then another low key celebration in FH's hometown) and registered for about 300 items.

We had a general idea of what we wanted before we registered so it was too bad for us. We went to some stores to look around and then did some research on which brands we wanted. Once we knew what we were going to ask for we did it online. Going to the store and the actually registering was fast, the research and agreeing on styles and brands we wanted were what took the longest.

Didn't really think about doing much research first, but that's a good idea. We have an idea of some stuff we want but haven't really looked into brands or anything. I'm sure know exactly what we want will def. save some time.

Good to know. We'll definitely need to make sure we get food first or bring snacks so I don't get cranky halfway through. Smiley xd

I definitely recommend it, at least for the bigger, more expensive items. We were mostly upgrading kitchen things and we wanted to make sure we were getting quality items but not going too extravagant at the same time. It can be a little overwhelming especially with things like knives where there a thousand different options.

Our is through amazon. We started almost instantly because we had family asking literally within the week of the engagement what we wanted for the engagement/wedding and if we were registered. We’ve been adding/deleting things over time though

We broke it into 2 trips. The first was about 2 hours, the second, about 1. I am also managing my BBB registry online, and we are also registered at Amazon.

You could always start it in the store and finish online at home

I registered online first, and then went in store to make sure that was what I wanted. This way we didnt have a sales associate follow us around and its a bit easier to stay focused. Plus online you can look up product reviews which I found helpful.

It's good to know we can finish online too in case we run out of steam in store.

It took us about a month or so to finish our three registries we picked to do. We did them in person with scanner thought it was more fun! And you can do edits online or add stuff if messed it. We kinda talked about what we wanted to scan from the stores and broke it down and would have a starting point when we got to the store. We only booked one consultant with bed bath and beyond. It was fun to do together!
