How long did you have your photographer at your wedding?

Kaitlyn, on November 25, 2020 at 12:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
I found a photography I love and she has a few options
5 hours for wedding day for $1500
7 hours for wedding day and engagement photo session for $2000 9 hours for wedding day and engagement photo session for $2500
I’m deciding between the $2000 option and $2500 option and leaning toward $2000. I have my venue until 11pm and I don’t think I’d need the photographer the last hour and since there’s a bridal suite at the venue if the photographer came at like 3:30 and did some stages getting ready photos then ceremony at 4:30 or 5 would that be enough time?
The only thing is I’m not sure if I wanna do a sparkler send off and if I do then I would probably need the photographer there at the end of the wedding?
She can also add on video for $1500 and her videos are so good from what I’ve seen so not sure if that is worth it

If you’re wanting to do a sparkler send off, most people stage it to happen earlier in the evening before most guests leave. That way, you have fuller pictures and your photographer doesn’t need to stay until the end of your event.

As Nicole mentioned, a sparkler send off isn't to signal the end of the wedding. It's more for the older crowd that want to leave early but still see the bride and groom off. Most wedding's we've attended had their send-off around 8-9pm and the reception actually ended at 11pm.

Your timeline actually sounds a lot like what ours will be like! Our photographer will be there for 8 hours only and she said that gives her plenty of time to take a few 'key shots' for getting ready photos, family portraits, bride and groom portraits, bridal party, ceremony, cocktail hour, first dances, and a few reception pieces.

I think the $2000 option is your best bet judging by what you said your timeline will be like!

Our photographer was at our wedding for 10 hours. She arrived at 12 and left at 10 when the reception ended. My husband wanted her at our wedding for the entire reception. I would have rather had her there earlier to get a few more getttjng reading photos rather than a bunch of photos of people randomly dancing. But it wasn't worth arguing with my husband about. I personally don't think the photographer needs to be at that entire reception unless you plan on doing a grand entrance which we didn't do. We did a last dance which is probably what my husband wanted the photographer there for.

We did 9 hours because we did a legit sparkler send off at the end of the night (10:45) and so glad we had her for that moment! I would do the 9 hr from my personal experience. 🤍

We have our photographer for 10 hours and video for 2,000 I think personally longer the photographer is there the more pictures they will take which means more memories captured. To my fiance and I photography was number 2 on our list because it's the only thing you will keep from your wedding, and there are things that you will miss from your wedding and have the photos to look back on.

We hired a photographer/videographer for $3,000. This includes:

    - 8 hours of photo and video - 10/12 minute final video- 1 minute Instagram trailer - engagement shoot - 2 photographers / 1 videographer - photo album - lapel mic- pre- wedding shots
The original price was $3800 but I told the photographer our budget and he was able to take away the canvas and accommodate our budget.
    Hope this helps.

I'm having a tiny vow exchange with only 3 guests. My FH hired a photographer for $250 to take pics of us for one hour.

When we had engagement pics done, i only liked 5 photos out of 185 shots so he didn't want to spens much money on photography when there's a good chance that I won't like the pictures

We have ours for 10 hours to be there to get some getting ready photos and they’ll be there for a good amount of the reception time. For me I wanted my photographer as long as possible to catch the most, so I personally would choose the package with longer hours.

Agree with Nicole- they can stage the sand off.

Those are some great prices! Our photography package included a 1 hour engagement shoot, 10 hours of coverage on our wedding day, and a 30 page album. We paid $5000 for the package (but we're also in a large city where prices are expensive). I would personally do the 9 hour option in your case, but the 7 hour option would also be fine as long as you have a detailed timeline to follow so that you don't miss any important shots.

I had only a minimal money and I pay for we for our thinking that would be way too much but honestly it wasn't enough because if I think of all of the shots that I wanted I didn't get all of them. I would have loved some more pictures with my maid of honor and I would have loved some more solo shots. I would save you can go as long as possible to do so.

Typically 8 hours is the minimum if you want some getting ready. If you want them to stay through to the very end then I would recommend adding an hour or two to that package.
