How long did your initial Florist consultation last?

smithereens, on October 8, 2013 at 3:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I am meeting with two florists on Monday. I made an appointment for 10 a.m. and another for 11:15 a.m. I can't see the appointments lasting longer than 45 minutes to an hour. Did any of your appointments last longer than an hour? Thanks! 'Preciate it!

One of mine was an hour another lasted an hour and a half. Just depends on how talkative the florist is and how clear your ideas are.

Mine were only like 15 mins each. We met with 3 different florists. But i knew exactly what i wanted, an exact budget, had pictures with examples of things and knew what flowers i hated and didn't want to incorporate.

Just be as prepared as you can with exactly what you want included in a quote for the consultation. Like flowers/petals on the cake, cake table, guest book table, aisle, ceremony chairs/pews, ceremony altar/area, cocktail hour flower decor, boutonnieres and corsages for grandparents/parents, ring bearers, how many flower girls? Stuff like that.

Mine was over an hour. I knew what colors I wanted in my bouquets and what look I wanted, and she just showed me options and I said yes or no.

My first one was about 45 mins but the second one was 2 1/2 hours long....it killed me! The second lady was very detailed though and pulled out every flower example (which was great) and was very time consuming. We aren't using her because she told me she only does 2 big weddings a year because she hates them so much and because she came in $3000 dollars more expensive. My third and final consult with someone new lasted about an hour and she was amazing & much cheaper!

** Be prepared. Have pictures of what you want and and a total number of bridal party attendents. You'll need to know:

location, time, venue. How many moms & if you want corsages, pin on or pomander.

How many fathers, grandfather, grandmothers, flower girls, ushers, bridal party, ring beareres and readers or musical performers. Are you doing presentation roses. Church decor and venue decor. I think that was the most time consuming thing for me and I wish I would have already had it listed.

Mine was like an hour and a half to two hours. But we are having a lot of flowers do there was a lot to go over. And our florist took us to the back and did a mock up right there for us. I think scheduling about half an hour should be fine.

Mine was probably about an hour, but we were booking so it wasn't just an interview. We were finalizing ideas at that first meeting.
