How Long Do Chocolate Covered Oreos Last?

Jersey, on May 18, 2016 at 11:29 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15

I'm having a whirlwind of a day and it's ridiculous that's I'm even posting/thinking about this, but the woman emailed me and I need to get back to her.

So here we go: We are getting chocolate covered Oreos as our favors. We are considering also using them for escort cards. My venue needs the escort cards by our final meeting (3-7 days before the event). So my question is, how far ahead can I get the Oreos without them getting yucky?

I know I have some bakers and chocolatiers in here! What do you ladies think?

Neither a baker nor a chocolatier, but I'd think refrigerating them would extend their shelf life by at least three days.

I wouldn't know because I usually eat them all before I worry about that

Are the completely covered in chocolate?? I make mint chocolate covered ones around Christmas every year and they last the month. I keep them in an air tight container on the counter. The chocolate keeps the cookies fresh Smiley smile

They should be fine. If they are able to store them in a refrigerator as well, it will extend their life and ensure they aren't all melty.

I wouldn't refrigerate them. Chocolate can get weird at cooler temps. As long as they're not being exposed to warm temperatures that could melt them, they should be completely fine at room temp for a pretty long time (a few months at least).

Yeah I don't think refrigerate.. Then it gets all condensation like (?? lol). Keep them in a box or bag fully closed.

In my house, they last about 5 minutes...

I think as long as they are not sitting in a hot place, like in a car, I think they should be ok for at least a week since they'll be in some kind of container.

Okay, I admit that I'm weird - I like cold chocolate! LOL

Are you having them made by a bakery or chocolate shop? They should be able to give you the best tips for storing them. Either way, I'm sure they'll be delicious and a big hit! ;-)

I've been making candies since I was a kid. They are probably freshest for the first 7-10 days, but will be fine for a little longer. Refrigerating them will keep them from melting, but won't really extend how long they are good for. If you get them a week before the wedding, they will be fine.
