How long do i need a dj for?

My wedding is next May. My fiance and I only have no more than 50 people we are inviting (wanna keep it small because of budget and we'll do a more informal reception later in the year). Anyways, trying to figure out how long we really need a dj for. I dont want the music to end too soon but idk that we have many guests that would dance either. Also we aren't doing the bouquet or garter toss which I know takes some time away; and the venue has a sound system that wr can Bluetooth into so there's that option. Really just need help figuring out what we want a dj for and for how long for the reception

Well considering that a lot of people look forward to dancing I would imagine that you would need the DJ for at least the entire length of the reception. However it really depends on your proud if you’re proud likes to dance and I would have them there the entire length of the reception if they don’t then maybe you could get away with not even having a DJ at all and just have a playlist?

We had our dj for 6 hours. He was really great and helpful with navigating us throughout the night. He made announcements and kept us on track as to what we needed to do next. Cake cutting, first dance, toast, father daughter dance and things of the nature. He also did a great job with getting everyone on the dance floor to dance. I think even if you have a dj for a few hours it’ll be beneficial. Even with a small crowd.
